This weekend, I'll be publishing the "Growth Obsessed Idols" theme, the two of three weekly picture sets this month, along with a tale for week 4.

I'm working on rounding it out. Every month, I create 3600 images, honing my creative style with individually designed LoRA models. I hand-pick 400 to 600 and sketch or refine a few to achieve the desired aesthetic. When I bypassed LoRA, I employed alternative training techniques that did not capture my style and eccentricities, opting for simpler images with far lower quality. My MacBook Pro (M3 Max) required 23-25 hours to complete the process. 

Now, using LoRA and significantly harder work with 8K photos, it takes 144 hours. Unfortunately, this also means that my computer will be locked for the fifth of the month. So I tried speedier choices, including a rented RTX 4090 and a ZeroGPU instance. They are resource hogs, yet their numbers shocked me.

Previously, the Mac was greener, requiring 3,500 watt-hours (25 hours at 140 watts for the entire system) compared the RTX 4090's 5,500 watt-hours (11 hours at 500 watts).

LoRA and 4K increase the Mac's runtime to 144 hours. The RTX 4090 needs 14 hours (7,000 watt-hours, 3.5 liters), while ZeroGPU requires 9 hours (7,200 watt-hours, 3.6 liters).

According to the graphic, the Mac used to be significantly leaner; now, it's not even close—ZeroGPU's speed reduces total energy and water use, making it more environmentally friendly. The movement can be seen in the chart.

In short mac bottlenecks way more on heavier images for now? I don't get stuff like XFormers or other benefits from Nvidia cards.

Switching ALSO allows me to create, refine, and build the game instead of waiting, despite the hourly power draw.
