May 2025 Drawing Challenge- Backgrounds
Added 2025-05-15 04:38:43 +0000 UTCFor this month's drawing challenge, we're going to be doing what's probably an actual challenge for a lot of us- backgrounds!
I have a feeling this won't be a popular one... xD
Backgrounds are a common struggle for many artists, so it's important to practice them! My best tip for backgrounds is to work in broad strokes- don't get obsessed with the details. Instead try to see how you can convey the setting with vague painted expressions. Use a large brush and try painting a background without outlines. Or- try setting a scene with lighting and atmospheric effects.
Apologies this is coming in late this month, so we will extend the deadline to June 15th for submissions.
