Last week, Alexandra and her father rode out of Archipoli.
This week, Chapter Four concludes with Alexandra agonizing between her two awful available options: ride for help by abandoning her mother and friends, or stay and face the impossible task of overcoming Archipoli's threats.

Thus concludes Chapter Four! I told you things would get worse for Alexandra.
I hope you have enjoyed this passage of PRACTICAL DEFENCE AGAINST PIRACY, as Alexandra has come face-to-face with the reality of her fantasies, navigated difficult feelings with her mother, and become even more deeply involved in a conflict so much more immense than a fifteen-year-old should have to deal with. This chapter has brought so many themes and story threads to a head, and yet it's still just a stepping stone toward this story's eventual catharsis. It's been so exciting to work on, and — personally speaking — so nerve-wracking to share.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of this project, both as patrons and in the kind words you've shared.

Next week: Chapter Five is thumbnailed! I'm excited to show you some early thoughts and ideas from it.
Until then,
I remain,
in an uncharacteristically genuine turn for these sign-offs,
deeply grateful for your support of and enthusiasm for this project,
TC
