Jenn's Diary - Behind The Scenes

Hope you liked the Jenn's Diary post. It was pretty fun to make, and instead of talking about it beforehand I thought I'd save that for this post.

It started as an excuse to show off her growth in a series of pictures, while also giving more to the story from her perspective. This aspect was influenced by Fantasy1290's fanfic Haley's Story where we got the chance to see things from a different character's point of view. If you haven't read it, it's a fun and quick little romp into her head during the events of the game.

The slideshow of Leah was my first attempt at this kind of thing, but I thought the images worked better with more feeling behind them. Plus, I dare say my art has improved significantly, making the stand alone images stand out more with better lighting and skin mods.

This is part one of two, and focused on Jenn's girlfriend path. I already wrote a second version focusing on her slut path which is still about 2/3rds the same but will offer different images for the second half. 

If there's interest for it, I'll continue it with a Part 3 to cover the broken watch branch, the benefit being Jenn reaching larger sizes. I don't have that written so I will finish up the next update first, but could be fun.

The girlfriend/slut paths haven't been very different lately, especially since I didn't differentiate them in the broken watch branch. Plus, regular Jenn has somewhat caught up to the sluttier version in a lot of ways. She might not be as excited to explore her exhibitionist side, but she's still willing to hook up in the park at night.

Currently the main difference is in the girlfriend path she has more self respect and agency, standing up for herself and others when she feels it necessary. However, she's still one of the most easygoing of the girls and will do anything to win the Main Character over. She takes a little longer throughout each step, from the first time they have sex to being willing to consider sharing and other kinkier activities.

The benefit is she's a more confident, happy person who isn't quite so dependent on the MC. She's still desperate for his love and affection since she likes him, but she's not that desperate.

For the slut path we have a slightly different Jenn, one who is a bit more broken down and is willing to do anything for her 'boyfriend'. She'll do anything to please him, and is more submissive overall. At first this sounds great, but as the story progresses we'll see some downsides. She won't ever go crazy on the MC, but she will need more love and aftercare from time to time. Or, if the MC continues to treat her badly, she could be pushed into a more extreme version.

In retrospect, I would change a few things about Jenn's earlier content. For example, I believe I would call it the submissive path instead of slut path. I would also have the MC go easier on her. The concept I had originally was she would continue to push herself on him and he grew increasingly annoyed at her not being able to take no for an answer. However, now I wish I'd chosen a different character for this dynamic: Laura.

Laura would have been far more deserving of the MC's reaction, and would have been a more fun path to go between treating Laura like she's crazy (but still down to do anything for you) vs. being nice to her, especially on a replay of the game when a lot of people tend to try to avoid her altogether. This would give a fun reason to keep her around, and would be more in character for the MC to be treating her badly instead of Jenn.

This is something I would actually like to change at some point. I plan to go back and fix the bad animations of the first several episodes. I made them when I had no experience and was trying to learn how to do everything, so as I go back to make a replay gallery for the sex scenes I would like to update those, one girl at a time, and polish up her path a bit on the way to keep things consistent throughout the game.

While I'm doing that, I'd also give them their own individual endings. Nothing too big or fancy, just a little glimpse into the future to see what would have happened if the MC picked that girl early on and turned down the others.

My plan is to do this for Leah first, going back to fix up her early scenes, including her little side endings with updated and more detailed visuals. At this point I would also add her scene in the Christmas Special, because why not? I may have mentioned this already, but I no longer want to do side content for the side games, I'd rather release it all in the main games and keep it all canon. We have enough "what if" content in media these days, and I'd rather challenge myself to keeping it all in the main game.
