Proof of Life #283: On the new update and the endings

Heya guys and gals, how are you doing in this fine morning/afternoon/evening? I’m sorry this PoL is coming out later than usual, I’ve had a pretty hectic day which means I’ve only been able to hop on my computer now since the new update was made available for 5$ tier earlier today.

So, I haven’t done a whole lot since update 21 was released, at least not when it comes to pure development. After the release, I’ve taken two days semi-off to focus on irl stuff and bug fixing as well as take things a bit easier. And then, I’ve spent a good chunk of my weekend trying to come up with a plan for the new update. It’s taking more time because I need to tie it with the upcoming endings, so I’m desperately trying to weave everything together to make it all work out properly.

Anyway, while I’m still in the dark about some part of the new update, I have a pretty clear idea for the majority of it. To give you a few details:

1. People have mentioned that Rose’s scene felt a bit similar, so I want to make some of them stand out more by using new locations outside of the manor.

2. This update could be a good opportunity to have Cyanna and Rose “connect” on a more personal level.

3. I’ll be continuing the new character’s storyline with Leto, since it is directly tied to the main storyline. She could also be a good opportunity for an extra scene.

Now, I wish to address the endings. There will be four in total. NTR1 (the women are sleeping around), NTR2 (the women stay mainly with the antagonists), Happy (brings closure to Leto’s story, help him and everyone heal and move forward), and Revenge (Leto decides he’s had enough. More about retaliation and switching place with the antagonists). The way I’m planning on adding them into the game is to start with one NTR ending (probably (1)), then Happy and/or Revenge (both of them in a row), and then finish up with the last remaining NTR ending.

One thing I wish to do differently from HC2 is to have the endings happen earlier in the story and be consequently longer. That means they will be more developed and personalized, and will thus give me more leeway to make them truly different from each other, and hopefully more satisfying and believable. What if Leto remains blissfully unaware of what everyone is doing behind his back in NTR ending 1? What if the heroines manage to change their ways and put a stop to their own downfall before they do something truly unforgivable in the Happy ending?

That also means each ending won’t necessarily hold all the answers to every question of HC3, and some plot points will remain unresolved in one ending while they will be explored further in another.
