Hello guys and gals, N_Taii here, bringing you the usual POL Monday post, every time a bit later^^ Sorry about that, I kind of changed my working hours. I'll probably keep this one short. I've done quite a lot in the past week, but a good portion of it is story-related, so I can't go into too much details.
HC3's Story: I've officially started developing the story. The prologue (MC as a kid) will be split into 2 parts: some kind of short prologue to the prologue, and a far longer second segment afterwards.
I'm quite far into the 1st segment, and I've been setting up most gameplay-related features as well.
I've also finished the 1st introduction of the game, where the MC will be greeted by an individual that might seem familiar for those who have played HC1, who will then ask the player to choose between some features, like the PoV, as well as guiding them through those choices and explaining what they will imply for the game. All in all, a good week worth of progress!
HC3's Gameplay: I've added all the base features, like the Quest Journal and the likes. As you can see in upper right corner of the pictures above, the Journal now also displays a small window with the current objective(s). It can be disabled in the option menus.
You will also be able to choose whether you want colored-hints for your choices (so you know what choice would lead to what ending) or leave them all white. The way I plan to implement this choice system is fairly simple: every time the player goes for a certain choice, the game will register it as a +1 for a certain ending. The ending that has the highest value at the end of the game will be the one played. Warning: to avoid any kind of misunderstanding, I want to make clear that choices won't lead to different kind of content, a few dialogue variations at most. All they will determine is the ending. You won't miss any scene by choosing one choice over the other.
Last but not least, the POV choice: if you look at the picture above, you will see the Omniscient POV on top, and below the Partial MC POV. The omniscient POV works the same as HC1 and 2, you will see every sex scene as well as some inner monologues, whispered dialogues and everything. For the Partial MC POV, however, some of the dialogues the MC doesn't hear will be scrapped, and visible things won't be so visible (ex. the wall not being transparent). You will still see and hear stuff like silhouettes and moans, because not seeing nor hearing anything would just be plain boring. Excuse the bland sprite for the MC, his "kid version" outfit(s) and haircut are being worked on as we speak.
Unrelated, but I have also created my very own NPC creation tool (not really, I just have all the layers like outfits, bodies or haircuts set up in GIMP and use them to design new NPCs) and have organized all the sexy animation, of which all have 3 breast size variation for more realism~ There are even different bodytypes for the guys, albeit it's either "relatively overweight" or "superfit" for now.
