Proof of Life #120: progress report #8, wanna check my progress by yourself?

Hey lads and ladies, I'm still out there, progressing on my own! But this time, besides the progress report, I'm adding a DL link for the current version of the game, where the maps are all accessible and you can walk around them. Keep in mind that some of these maps won't be available during the prologue, only later, so depending on how you see things, this might come as a spoiler to some. DL If you'd like : )

(There might be a few missing assets here and there, like the beds in the Duke's Manor.  This is mostly because those will be custom assets, and the artists are making them as we speak).

Report:

HC3's Story: Soon, I'll be able to start working on it! Tbh, I've been working on those maps for so long, I'm getting kind of nervous about starting to develop the game again, haha.
On a completely unrelated note, I've been thinking about adding an early optional setting into HC3: since this time, I want to do it Witcher 3 style by adding a few choices here and there that will determine your ending instead of cramming them all at the end, I've been pondering the possibility to add an option determining whether those choices would have indications as to what ending they lead to. For example, if [Indications] are on, then the choices would be color coded (red for revenge, green for happy, etc...), and if indications are off, then the player would have to guess by themselves (not all choices would be super intuitive though, so that would be a risk). It's not hard to do, and that might be a good addition.

HC3's Map: Mostly done. I still need to add the details (add transparent glass for some windows, add a night version for the maps, fix a few things here and there, etc...), but all in all, it should be done in a few days. 

In the picture above, you can see the map of the hall of the antagonist's manor. I wanted this map to have two levels, a 1st floor and a 2nd floor, without switching map. Because of the limitations of the RPGMaker engine, this was quite the nightmare to do (as you can see in the third picture below, with all the events everywhere), but I did it! The animations for when characters climb up the side stairs is a bit weird, but I can't make it any better unfortunately.

HC3's Art: A few new stuff done, mostly outfits and environmental assets. Not much to report here, as I'll probably be showing them off later on.

HC3's Misc: Three voices are done so far: the mom, the chidlhood friend, and the princess. I've had...some troubles with the last voice actress, so I have to look for a new one. Still, it'll be all ready in time.

That's it for this PoL. It was a short one, but since there's at least something to download, you can make it a lot longer if you decide to walk around the map(s) : )

Yeah, different paths prior to the ending could be nice, but it would slow down the whole game a lot, so I feel like it's not worth it. Sure, the final game would be cool, but it would decreaze the size of each route's update, so I prefer a linear story with different endings, just like HC2

I'm all for having different scenarios based on player choices..if I wanted a linear path I'd read a comic.. just make sure you don't end up hurting yourself in the future from having too many extra scenarios to tackle

Hmmm, I don't think I want to delve into the MC's psyche regarding the scenes and the NTR itself. More like: X person wronged you for Y reason, do you: 1)harm them? (shows a vengeful tendency-Revenge), 2)hand them to the authorities? (shows the ability to control your emotions and react in a measured manner-Happy), or 3) do you let them go? (shows a merciful personality, but leaves the possibility that you be taken advantage of in the future-NTR), things like that. It's not 100% decided yet.

So something like: "I saw them together and it made me feel..." - 1) excited 2) sick ? I think that would definitely add to the plausibility of different endings

I would still be adding a save that takes you to the beginning of each ending, for those who don't wish to replay the game. Also, I'm not planning on having scenes exclusive to certain choices. The choices themselves won't lead to different routes, at most a few differences in the dialogues. They would mostly be there to cement the MC's personality and his relationship to others, which would in turn explain why the events of the ending unfolded the way they did. All in all, the choices would have little impact on the game until the end.

I'm not against decisions prior to the ending as long as you can still access the other endings without having to replay the entire game to gain "good" or "bad" points. That would definitely not be my kind of thing. I'm also not in support of different scenes depending on the choices, because I feel like rewatching the other route's scenes each time kinda breaks the immersion (don't know if that was something you considered)
