2026-03-13 11:57:32 +0000 UTCThis chapter was a big moment in the manga. Somehow Toei tried to capitalize on it, but ended up doing a rather unserious and lazy job with Sanji, as usual. Like you mentioned, there was really no need to insert so many flashbacks in between, especially when many of them had already been shown just a few episodes earlier. Those flashbacks really killed the momentum, which is unfortunate because this chapter carries such a powerful emotional impact. At the same time, viewers can’t simply skip the episode either, because there are important canon moments mixed in between. It’s almost paradoxical — you can’t fully skip it, yet the pacing makes it frustrating to watch. Luckily, the next episode still preserved the essence of the moment. But when Episodes 807 and 808 aired together, some of the emotional momentum had already been lost because of this episode’s pacing. Fans had been anticipating this chapter’s anime adaptation with high-high expectations, ep 807 ended up upsetting a lot of fans.

2026-03-12 15:25:28 +0000 UTCWhat really sucks is we just saw all of the new flashback, while also seeing Sanji with Zeff as a repeated flashback. I remember the Anime was very close to the Manga and in the same arc, that they needed a lot of spacing, and they decided to do this episode and the next one.
