Traditional Tiger Ceremony
Added 2020-02-18 20:41:18 +0000 UTC
A tiger style wedding, suggested by Iago24!
The tigresses use magic to make the fire dance. Couples walk into the fire and must trust the Shaman to protect them from the flames. Clothes are burned away and they step out reborn. Any newcomers are then accepted into the tribe.
BURN IN HOLY FIRE! THE IMPERIUM OF TIGERS WILL CONQUER ALL!!

"Attack tail against fire off the butt of a Tigress. I've watched tiger eyes glitter in the dark near the Tiger Bed. All those moments will be lost in time, like clothes in the fire." / Had to go there, again.

They sing a cappella version of Fire Man's theme song from MM1 while they're dancing around the fire.

How about a Keidran funeral rite? Seeing as we're unlikely to see one of those in the main comic anytime soon. Right, Tom?
...R-right, Tom?

I just have all the luck with these, don't I? An absolutely awesome picture as always, Tom!
I'll be sure to come up with more elements of Keidran culture for you to draw. Better start worldbuilding! ;)

Also, Tom has slyly informed us that tigers, at the very least, have no taboos against same sex couples.

Also lol, Tom! I see you kept the "clothes burning away" bit that was discussed in the stream chat. I have to say, though. I really do like the idea of firewalking as a purification ritual. Burning away the participant's former life and impurities (like clothes) and symbolically rebirthing them into their new lives as honorary Keidran and members of the tribe. I love these deep lore sketches!

To the Templar Expeditionary League, Offices of the Explorer General, High Tower, Morlin Hall:
Explorers Lleweth and Klarcs report that we have received your latest missive and are now prepared to deliver our briefing on the situation regarding the Tiger Expidition as it stands, which shall be forwarded to you in the form of this letter.
We understand that there is some concern that our relationship with the current focus of our research may have become too personal. As we hear it, there are rumors within the League that the impartiality of our position has been compromised. More specifically, we have heard that the phrase "gone native" is being bandied about in more than whispers.
We regret to inform the General that such rumors HAVE NOT been greatly exaggerated. Neither have rumors that we participated in a local custom of tribal initiation. Although this last piece of gossip was slightly inaccurate. You see, the ritual we took part in was not simply an initiation; it was also a wedding ceremony. On a purely academic level, taking part in such a ceremony provided countless insights into the nuance of Tiger custom and sociology. However, we cannot lie and say that our reasons were merely scientific.
To put it in simpler terms: We fell in love. With this land. With these people. With our new mates. If that makes us compromised, we are happy to be so. Frankly, we find the lofty notion of the impartiality of research to be highly overrated. It is our firm belief that to conduct truly quality research, one must be passionate about the subject at hand. Amongst our new tribemates, we have found passion in scads. We wouldn't wish it any other way.
Finally, we understand that the General's missive also contains an official directive, conditional on the veracity of the rumors mentioned above, recalling us to the High Tower so that an inquiry may be performed to in order to determine the viability of our expedition's continuance. To be frank, we all know what the result of such an inquiry would be, and as the previously mentioned rumors are not in fact rumors, Lleweth and myself have prepared the following statement as our official response to the Order of Recall.
To the Explorer General:
Make us.
Please consider this to be our official letter of resignation.
Signed: Meriwyther Lleweth & Wilhelm Klarcs, Former Explorers of the Templar Expeditionary League, Flamebound Tribemates of the Lyn'Knoll Tiger Tribe.

A beautiful scene and interesting lore.
Hopefully the Shaman is open minded and doesn't have any significant issues with the humans or those who might want to bond with them.
As to Trace and Flora, Flora might be looking forward to a traditional tiger ceremony.
