And now you all, picture the tragedy that will happen if (or when) Brutus goes back to Clovis and the mage orders him to kill our heroes. This so lovable brute, charging all fangs out, maybe managing to kill one or several good guys (considering this image he'd have no problem with Lynn, Maddie, Eric, Evals, Mike... many of them aren't even fighters), and finally being taken down by the big hitters (Trace, Natani... especially Natani, who has a grudge against his boss, bringing them into direct conflict). So would fall a nice wolf who could have been a good friend and ally to the team but who ended on the bad side of the line because of fate, dying for a boss who, even if he loved him, would have never been able to reciprocate the feeling out of fear of behind betrayed or discovered a female, and too blinded by his ego, paranoia and greed to be able to love Brutus as much as the latter does love him, even if he desperately tried.

See, I somehow pictured combat Brutus being just about as friendly and (seemingly) clueless as normal Brutus. Something like "Hey fellas, the Boss doesn't like to roughouse, but I can play with you for a bit. Let's be careful, ok? 😊" But this is pretty great :)

A few minutes of Brutus going One Man Wrecking Crew later... Brutus: *Panting and wobbling on his feet* "Ha! Ha... Told ya you were wrong. I ain't dying today! Woof..." Brutus: *Noticing arrow in shoulder as he limps to lean against nearest wall.* "...Owie." *Whimpers* Brutus: *Aching. Bleeding. Vision going grey.* "It's okay, Brutus... He'll be back. Just you wait..." *Whines and slides to heap at base of wall in ball of pain.* Brutus: "...He'll be back."

I had an idea for a sequel to this where a concerned Clovis tends to Brutus' wounds, but I would have preferred if it were Fem!Clovis and Brutus says "Thanks, boss" to imply he knew the whole time. It doesn't quite make as much sense as a direct sequel to this since this is Pre-TDM, but I think I'll suggest it anyway
