2020-10-23 17:42:27 +0000 UTCI don't dislike G8. I find it pretty good. What I don't like is how people just put it on a pedestal and treat it like it is the perfect piece of writing. It gets treated like it's a step above the others but it's like the other filler where it has its issues as well. I still enjoy G8 but I find it is pretty much equal to the rest of filler. In fact, I find the episodes of 132-136 to be my favorite filler in One Piece.

In the context of the anime it isn't even a filler that was noticed in my early anime only days. I would watch, and skip arcs that felt like filler, and i was right accept for two cases. one being that I thought G8 was legit, and secong skipping Long-Ring-Long Land arc

The time I was bothered from it was in the 400's where one of the studios had the same animation as the sixth movie. The animation is good and fluid and works great for a movie but it is just so different from the rest of the show that those episodes are just so jarring to watch.

I feel like if other filler gets skipped then it should be skipped too. It's not so special to be singled out.

2020-10-21 05:30:57 +0000 UTCThe rules with Devil Fruits and water aren't stated in the show but Oda has explained it in the question corners in the manga. If you are submerged in water up to your ankles then you start feeling a little weak but you are still able to move and fight. If you are submerged up to your waist then you become immobilized. And you have to be submerged so rain or just being splashed with water doesn't weaken you.

Sure, there's the big speech afterward, but that's someone else's observation and Luffy never explicitly agrees.

Not only because, well, Whitebeard is worth it, but that you are that hyped for something you know is set up for hundreds of ep later, and still excited. It's one of the best parts of One Piece, just how well things are set up ahead of time to pay off so much later, and live up to the build up. As for the DF question, a Fruit user only starts to get weakened and unable to move if over 50% of their body is submerged.

At that point, Luffy just no longer saw Bellamy as even worth it. It's tied right into why Luffy doesn't see the need to kill enemies, to Luffy, destroying their dream is by far worse.

I think that's just part of the struggle of doing a weekly format versus a seasonal one, they can't budget the same amount of money for each episode, unfortunately. That screengrab you took probably wasn't the best example though, it was just an unfortunate pause in the middle of a gag after all.
