I think it was around the time of 911, so Oda wasn't too keen on a character dying from a bomb. My thing is, he should've killed him because it leaves a greater impact. He's dead in my mind LOL

Plus the reason why he didn't kill Pell, due to the time that part was released being very sensitive with bomb based deaths in real life, makes sense. It's understandable why, but it does (imo) hurt the depth & meaning of his sacrifice. Makes it less impactful when it doesn't stick.

Yeah, Pell surviving is one of the most controversial moments in One Piece I feel. On the one hand, I do feel like having the fake out death was kind of dumb for a non-main character. On the other hand, I do like it how Oda doesn't kill characters often. I agree with his statements of how killing characters all the time does lessen the impact of it in the story.

I loved this arc but the one criticism I have is of Pell being alive. I like to pretend he didn't live because I feel it ruins his sacrifice. Loved your reaction though!

One Piece has some other openings that have major spoilers. Opening 22 even spoiled the manga at the time it came out.

Robin chwaan! Best girl is here! Seriously, she's my favorite character in this show. I, and pretty much everyone who watches One Piece, did definitely wish Vivi had joined the crew. But her reason for staying behind was valid. As princess, she couldn't rightfully abandon her country, no matter how much she wanted to go out to sea with the crew. She had to be there for Alabasta as it healed from this years long nightmare.

I think that was confirmed. Oda was originally intending on killing off Pell but only didn’t because of that reason. He wanted to avoid bomb violence and bomb deaths since 9/11 had just happened when the manga chapter came out

I had never even noticed that they had been adding people. I always just assumed it was the same as the beginning of the show. It wasn't until he noticed that Chopper was added when I noticed it.

Now that you've gotten to this point, you should react to the third opening again like you did for the second opening. The reason why I had recommended for you to not watch it is that it shows Robin in the crew even though the intro started with episode 116. It's really the only time that I feel like One Piece had spoiled some big things in the intro.

Not sure if you knew, but there is a rumor going around that the only reason why Pell survived was that this happened in 2001, and at the same time as the bombing of the Twin Towers, so because of the panic that caused in the real world, Oda decided to make sure Pell didn' die form the bomb.

The breadcrumbs have been dropped since whiskey peak. - Back in Whiskey Peak, right before Igaram's boat blows up, you quickly see a bunch of arms reaching across a black screen. We now know that's Robin's ability. The implication is that she pulled him off the boat. - She tried to send the Strawhats on a different route to Alabasta by trying to stop them from having to wait a year for their log pose to set in Little Garden. (Thankfully they found an eternal pose.) - She didn't kill Pell by completely breaking his spine in two. - And she saved Luffy from the pit of quicksand. Like Dr. Kureha mentioned at the end of Drum Island, Nico Robin is also curious about the Will of D. We now know she's looking for the missing history that's only told in Poneglyphs.

A quick tip Ruff, and I think it comes with the not looking at the epiosodes titles, Don't look up the name of the future arc/saga. Because it might ruin the experience for you. The reason is that the crew may have a destination or a goal but something happens and they have to change their goal.

One of the quotes I love from the king is in the bathhouse. "You wear authority over your clothes. In the bath, there's no such thing as a naked king." I love it so much because he knows he's just a man with a title. He puts on the robes and dons the title "king", but at the end of the day and when the robes come off he's just a man. Great take on authority.

In my opinion crocodile he was pretty coocky (idk how to type it) and wasnt going to hard in my opinion at least most of the last fight + luffy got some suprise attacks on him but that is my opinion
