Reaction DC"Break the Wall" Special Clip, Concerts

Comments

The Utopia concert is my favorite of their online concerts. They added a second guitar to the band so the rock sound is fuller, and the slower arrangements of the songs really let you hear their voices with a minimum of backing track or other recording tricks. It goes without saying that they look amazing. Gahyeon's line about haters always hits me hard because I know she is the member who has been singled out by haters because of her looks. She is also the member who was most affected by hate comments, but she has grown and matured so now she just shrugs it off. She is an absolutely unique beauty with a huge caring heart. When I first saw them perform this song I immediately thought of the wall that divides North and South Korea. The graphics in the background look very much like the border fence. I think all South Koreans want that wall broken down so they can be one people again. The backing track. This is the Kpop method. All groups are trained to perform this way and I think they might feel a little lost without it. Kpop has never used live bands so the music comes through their in-ears for them to sing to, and the voices are there as an extra guide. It's also hard to sing while dancing. The music shows require groups to record the backing track at the show studio. They aren't allowed to bring in a recording made by their company so it's quite genuine. Most Kpop groups are not great singers, even though each group usually has a few members that are good they need to make the singing as uniform as possible. Dreamcatcher don't need backing vocals because they are all skilled singers which is quite unusual in Kpop. Handong is the only member that needed the backing track in the past because her voice lacked power, but she has improved tremendously and she can belt when she needs to now. The finger. They thought Gahyeon was really sleeping so that whole scene was her pranking the members.

From the emotion they use when singing Break the Wall I get the feeling that it really means a lot to them. I'm sure they felt like they had wall after wall stacked in front of them since debut and this feels like a message to themselves as much as anything. They really are the personification of striving and pushing forward until you succeed, even when everyone around you is telling you that you'll never be able to do it.
