On to news. No comic this week.
OMG WHY?! Well, I was working on the script last weekend and I realized that it... doesn't... quite make sense, in the current order I have things. So I'm working on it. To make sure that the next page is the correct page. On a related note, the preview this week is from the page I started drawing that I HOPED to have up this week, but ultimately decided did not fit. So this week I'll be working on shoring that up and making it more cohesive for everyone. I'm still falling into the trap of focusing way too much undeserved attention on (what currently seem to be) tertiary characters instead of keeping my attention on the story that matters. I'm fallible. I'm also currently still absolutely FASCINATED by Pyre and her psychopathy. But that doesn't mean I should shift my story to integrate her more than her proper share. The Cinders will have their time and place. There's a slot for them in this tale, but it's not here.
I'm in that weird MIDDLE part of the story, where I have a vague understanding of what needs to happen and in what order, but making everything line up so that it all works out when we get there is the hardest part of writing. I don't like to force my characters to do anything they don't want to do, but in order to tell the best story, they do need to have the correct motivations to end up where they need to be so that story can happen. Don't let anyone ever tell you writing is easy. :3

I appreciate all the votes and I'm honestly surprised that the Redtail Casino is winning! The Deadlands is a close second, and it is also a wonderfully horrific environment I hope to do justice some day.

2025-02-12 09:14:58 +0000 UTCI have an analogy I try to keep in mind for that. Each time I start a new project, it's like setting sail on a new ship to try and cross an ocean. Eventually I'll always see rough seas or a big storm that'll make me want to jump off the ship and swim back to shore where it's safe. At some point I just got really sick of that shore and of starting new projects, and now I really want to see what's on the other side of the ocean. If it takes me 10 more years or 15, I'll weather a hundred storms to see it through.
