Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [540]

Although August had mentally prepared himself that Lusamine’s “surprise” might actually be a “shock,” he still nearly choked when he actually saw the promotional plan.

The filming schedule clearly stated that he and Cynthia would portray a romantic couple enjoying the amusement park together.

To be fair, the promotional idea itself was excellent—depicting the park from a couple’s perspective was both relatable and cleverly capitalized on the rumors of August and Cynthia’s supposed relationship from the World Coronation Series.

It was guaranteed to attract massive attention. Even those who had no interest would likely tune in to see August and Cynthia in action.

However, all these advantages hinged on one major issue…

“You’re trying to get me killed!” August blurted out.

Blue and Sabrina are right outside! And aren’t you worried about how Cynthia might feel?!

Lusamine blinked in surprise. August’s reaction wasn't at all what she'd expected. She genuinely thought August would be thrilled—after all, he and Cynthia clearly got along well.

Still, such things ultimately depended on August’s wishes.

“Then…should we change it?” Lusamine asked tentatively.

Since it was their own business venture, changing the plan wouldn’t be a huge issue. Although it might slightly reduce the impact, keeping August happy was what mattered most.

August cleared his throat, but before he could respond, Cynthia cut in with a serene smile, “I think the promotional video idea is lovely.”

Iono and Nemona widened their eyes, shocked.

...

“It’s Iron Valiant!”

As Gardevoir and Garchomp clashed with Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon, the director finally shouted, “Cut!”

With the final scene finished, the filming wrapped up. Now only post-production editing remained.

As soon as filming ended, the Pokémon immediately stopped their "intense" battle.

Gardevoir gently floated down from the sky, gracefully landing beside August.

“You worked hard.” August smiled warmly, patting Gardevoir’s head.

Gardevoir’s eyes immediately curved into happy crescents. She'd always loved the feeling of August stroking her head, but ever since she'd evolved into a Gardevoir, he’d rarely done it. And she was too embarrassed to ask directly.

At that moment, the director approached August and Cynthia enthusiastically. “Thank you both for your cooperation. I have to say—I’ve never seen trainers with such perfect chemistry before. You two look like a natural couple on camera, truly made for each other!”

Cynthia responded with a soft smile, but August immediately broke out into a cold sweat—because he could feel two intense murderous auras aimed at his back.

Before August could speak, Blue and Sabrina appeared on either side of him, each clinging possessively onto an arm.

“What about us? Don’t we look like a couple with August too?” Blue challenged sweetly.

The director, intending to continue praising August and Cynthia, was suddenly caught completely off guard by Blue and Sabrina’s unexpected interference. His brain short-circuited, mouth hanging open silently.

In all his years of directing, he’d never encountered such a situation.

Fortunately, he was quick to react when August frantically gave him pleading looks.

“Yes! Yes, of course, you both also have perfect chemistry with August!” The director wiped nervous sweat from his forehead.

Who knew directing was such a dangerous profession these days…

Just then, a League staff member urgently approached Geeta, whispering something into her ear.

Geeta’s expression immediately darkened. “Are you certain?”

The staff member nodded repeatedly. “We’re still assessing damages, but the seal is definitely compromised…”

Geeta’s expression became grim, and she rose abruptly from her seat.

August, still trapped in his awkward romantic standoff and desperately seeking an escape, immediately brightened upon seeing Geeta’s troubled expression.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” he asked eagerly.

Geeta blinked. Was it her imagination, or did August seem oddly happy about this?

But since August had asked, she didn't conceal anything.

“August, are you familiar with the legend of Paldea’s Treasures of Ruin?”

August’s interest instantly piqued. Of course he knew them—Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu.

These four legendary Pokémon had been sealed away in ancient Paldea after causing devastating calamities.

Just remembering those frustrating stakes scattered around Paldea made August grit his teeth involuntarily.

From Geeta’s tone, something must’ve gone wrong with the seals.

Seeing August’s expression, Geeta mistook his excitement for confusion and helpfully explained, “The Treasures of Ruin are four legendary Pokémon that appeared during the ancient Paldean Empire, transformed from treasures brought from the Far East.”

“They wreaked havoc and thus were sealed away until now.”

“Just now, my subordinate reported that these four seal locations have been disturbed, with evidence of sabotage. The leaking energies have already started altering local weather and terrain.”

The situation was exactly as August imagined.

Still…

“Any idea who damaged the seals?” August asked curiously. Paldea lacked any notable villainous groups.

Could it be Team Star?

Then again, those problem students pulling such a stunt wouldn’t be too surprising.

Geeta shook her head. “We don’t know who exactly, but a strange-looking airship was spotted at one site…”

She handed August a photograph.

August’s eyebrow rose upon seeing it. “Hoh?”

Isn’t this the Plasma Frigate? No, wait—Team Rocket’s trio stole it, so now it should be called the Rocket Frigate.

That explained the absence of Jessie, James, and Meowth after Team Plasma’s downfall. Apparently, they’d fled to Paldea.

August smiled decisively. “You’re probably busy enough with Area Zero. Since I’m here, leave this to me.”

Geeta eagerly accepted his offer. August stepping in was the best possible outcome.

For August, it was a triple win—escape his romantic predicament, encounter the elusive Chien-Pao, and check on how the Rocket trio were doing. Had they squandered all of Team Rocket’s funds yet?

Eagerly, August tossed out Salamence’s Poké Ball. But before he could mount Salamence, two pairs of hands simultaneously grabbed his arms from either side.

He stiffly turned to see Blue and Sabrina smiling sweetly at him. “We’re coming too!”

August: “...”

He looked desperately toward Cynthia.

You wouldn’t join them too, would you…?

Mistaking August’s pleading look as an invitation, Cynthia thoughtfully tapped her chin before nodding. “Hmm, alright. I’ll come along too.”

In the end, I still can’t escape?!

With a look of utter defeat, August and the four girls climbed aboard Salamence’s broad back. Oh, and one more person squeezed in—Iono insisted on tagging along, eager to film content featuring the disaster Pokémon.

Fortunately, Salamence’s huge size accommodated all five easily.

Yet strangely, despite the insignificant weight, Salamence suddenly felt like it was carrying a mountain.

Have I really gotten that out of shape from too much eating and sleeping? Salamence wondered gloomily.

Time to tell Boss August to give me more exercise…

Following Geeta’s map, their first stop was the Icerend Shrine in western Paldea, sealing away Chien-Pao.

Even before landing, August noticed heavy storm clouds above the shrine, snow cascading down, blanketing the area in white.

“Is this the Treasures’ power?” Iono gasped.

Though she’d grown up hearing tales of the greedy ancient king and these calamity Pokémon, actually witnessing their impact was startling. Changing the weather like this reminded her of Hoenn’s Groudon and Kyogre.

Now Paldea has its own Groudon and Kyogre!

(Although, come to think of it, that wasn’t exactly a good thing.)

The closer they approached, the colder it became. Upon landing, snow reached above their ankles.

Cynthia and Iono wore heavy clothing and managed fine; Sabrina was unbothered due to her psychic powers. Only Blue, who wore lighter clothing, shivered and clung tightly to August.

Seeing her condition, August gently knocked on the sleeping Mew’s head.

“Mew~” Mew mumbled sleepily before creating a protective barrier around everyone, then promptly resumed her nap atop August’s head.

Quickly reaching the shrine, they found three of its four sealing chains already broken, the last one strained nearly to its limit by Chien-Pao’s struggles.

Iono nervously tried moving closer to August, but Blue and Sabrina had already claimed his sides, leaving her no choice but to cling to Cynthia instead.

“What now?” Blue asked anxiously.

“The seal isn't fully broken yet,” Iono suggested. “We can either wait here for the culprit to finish removing the stakes, or proactively search…”

Those two options might suit ordinary trainers, but for August…

“I’ll do neither,” he declared firmly.

Iono blinked. Then what was August planning?

“If it’s just chains, we’ll cut them ourselves.”

Find the stakes again? He’d already wasted enough time with that before his transmigration.

Cynthia quickly sent out her Garchomp, testing the remaining chain. A loud clang echoed, and though the chain rattled violently, it remained intact. Garchomp’s claw even suffered frostbite.

“Leave it to me,” August smirked, tossing another Poké Ball.

Amid everyone’s astonished stares, a towering, majestic, fluffy white Pokémon appeared, radiating warmth that instantly melted nearby snow into gentle rain.

“What Pokémon is that?!” Iono exclaimed.

Before August answered, Cynthia spoke softly, eyes sparkling with awe, “Reshiram, the Dragon of Truth from Unova.”

At August’s command, Reshiram unleashed [Fusion Flare]. The intense flames instantly melted the previously indestructible chain into molten metal, breaking Chien-Pao’s seal completely.

“Amazing!” Iono squealed in admiration.

As Iono gushed, an ominous bang sounded—something stirred inside the shrine.

All eyes except August’s turned warily toward the trembling shrine doors. Finally, with a thunderous crash, the doors burst open—only to bounce harmlessly off Reshiram’s sturdy arm.

“Raaaawr!” A ferocious roar emerged.

A white paw tentatively reached out, immediately stepping onto the molten-hot metal chain.

“Aooooo!” The paw withdrew swiftly, accompanied by pitiful whimpering.

Everyone: “…???”

Wasn't this supposed to be a terrifying calamity Pokémon? Why did it seem so…unintimidating?

After another long wait with no further movement, August finally lost patience, nodding decisively to Reshiram to take matters into their own hands.
