Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [526]

Then, uncontrollably, the Dark Stone flew out from Black’s grasp, hovering in midair.
Seeing this, Black froze in shock.
“The Dark Stone…?”
He never imagined that the Dark Stone, which had remained dormant until now, would suddenly spring to life.
Even more surprised was N.
N had assumed that the previously captured Dark Stone was still with August, but here it was, in the hands of this seemingly insignificant boy before him.
Reshiram let out a mighty roar at the Dark Stone suspended in the sky…
Facing Reshiram's oppressive aura directly, Black felt his entire body tremble, his mind plunging into chaos.
Calm down... calm down...
Black repeatedly told himself.
He threw out a Poké Ball. Munna, who had evolved into Musharna, immediately attached itself to Black’s head.
As Musharna exerted its power, the fear and stray thoughts in Black’s mind were instantly cleared away.
His entire being entered a state of perfect clarity.
If I’m going to fight Reshiram, I must borrow Zekrom’s power. According to August, awakening Zekrom requires communicating my ‘ideals’… but what exactly are my ideals?
Thinking back on all the things he'd witnessed Team Plasma do along the journey, Black's resolve crystallized in his heart.
He suddenly raised his head and shouted firmly, “Dragon of Ideals, Zekrom! Listen to the ideals in my heart…”
“My King, hurry and stop him!” Ghetsis shouted urgently from behind.
Yet this time, N didn’t heed Ghetsis’s call as usual. Instead, he remained rooted, watching Black intently.
“…Lend me your power!”
Under the gaze of everyone present, Black did not disappoint. The Dark Stone in the sky erupted with intense black radiance.
The black glow expanded dramatically.
In the next moment, a dragon cloaked in pitch-black scales, majestic like a dark-armored warrior—Zekrom—appeared before them.
The Dragon of Truth and the Dragon of Ideals.
After countless ages, these two legendary Pokémon had once again emerged in Unova, confronting each other atop Dragonspiral Tower.
Witnessing Black finally summon Zekrom, August, standing a distance away, casually stuffed a handful of Mew’s treasured popcorn into his mouth.
He had to admit, though the popcorn had been stored in Gengar’s stomach dimension for a while now, it tasted just like freshly popped kernels.
No wonder Mew liked stashing snacks in Gengar’s four-dimensional belly; the freshness-preserving capabilities were incredible.
Not forgetting himself, August offered some to Giovanni beside him, “Want some?”
August demonstrated with practical actions that captives in the Kanto branch got excellent treatment indeed.
Giovanni stared at August’s casual movements, his eyelids twitching slightly.
How could he be so laid-back at such a critical moment? Probably no one else in the entire League could pull that off except August.
Damn this annoying calmness!
Giovanni concluded that August’s easygoing attitude came from absolute confidence in his own strength.
Thinking about it made Giovanni’s mood sour further—after all, the stronger August was, the slimmer his own chances of escaping became.
Eating snacks could relieve stress, and in his irritable mood, Giovanni silently grabbed a handful of popcorn from the bucket.
Seeing this, the trio from Team Rocket, standing farther behind, became even more convinced of their earlier suspicion.
“If he’s eating popcorn, there’s no way that's Boss Giovanni! It’s definitely Mew disguised as him!”
While August leisurely assumed a snacking posture, Black stared excitedly at Zekrom before him.
At last, he had the power to fight!
At that very moment, N, who had been waiting patiently, finally ordered Reshiram to attack Zekrom.
“[Fusion Flare]!”
The engine at Reshiram’s tail emitted a crimson glow. Two smaller fireballs orbited a massive sphere of flame forming before it, swelling rapidly like an inflating balloon.
Black stared in panic as the massive fireball grew larger and larger before his eyes.
Yes, he had successfully summoned Zekrom—but he had absolutely no experience commanding a legendary Pokémon. Unlike N, he hadn’t done his homework, and had no idea what moves Zekrom even knew.
August, still munching popcorn in the background, sighed at this scene.
Throwing a rookie straight into battle really was asking too much.
But thankfully, Black wasn’t alone—he still had August behind him.
August casually tugged the tail of Mew, who had been lying invisible atop his head, signaling Mew to establish a psychic communication link between himself and Black.
[GardevoirSupremacy]: Use [Fusion Bolt]!
Black, who had been panicking just seconds before, froze briefly in surprise. GardevoirSupremacy… isn’t that Boss August’s username in the group chat?
But there was no time for hesitation—he made the right decision immediately.
“Zekrom! [Fusion Bolt]!”
Zekrom, who had been impatiently preparing to abandon Black and fight alone, finally received clear instructions.
Its tail shone brightly, and electric-blue and violet sparks enveloped Zekrom’s entire body.
At that instant, Reshiram unleashed [Fusion Flare].
The enormous sphere of flame surged toward Zekrom, but Zekrom felt no fear. Cloaked entirely in lightning, it charged directly at the incoming fireball.
Boom!
Lightning and flame collided violently.
Far from neutralizing each other, the two moves interacted explosively, triggering an immense reaction far greater than their combined power.
The resulting shockwave spread across the entire top level of Dragonspiral Tower.
On the lower level, Gary Oak, who had been using Landorus to pick off Team Plasma trainers one by one, suddenly felt a terrifying tremor above him.
Glancing up, he saw lightning and flames exploding across the sky. Clouds were instantly torn apart by the powerful blast, leaving nothing but scorched fragments behind.
Even from the ground, Gary could clearly feel the effects of that collision.
“What’s happening up there? Has August still not finished Team Plasma off?” Looker asked worriedly. Though he’d personally witnessed August’s strength before, he couldn’t help but feel concerned about the battle above.
Gary shook himself out of his shock, replying confidently, “Relax—how could Team Plasma possibly be a match for August?”
Although even he had to admit the battle unfolding above exceeded anything he had expected.
But defeating August? Team Plasma would need at least three or four Giovannis’ worth of strength to pull that off!
As Gary reassured everyone below…
Above Dragonspiral Tower, the battlefield was a total wreck from Reshiram and Zekrom’s clash.
What had once been a relatively intact ruin was now a true ruin. Radial cracks spread from the spot where the two legendary Pokémon had collided. Ancient pillars crumbled, shattered into scattered stones by the sheer force of their attacks.
Among the spectators…
August and Giovanni, shielded by Mewtwo, were completely unharmed.
Team Plasma, however, was in shambles.
Ghetsis crashed into a wall, clutching his aching back as he staggered upright.
Worse still was Sage Vio of the Seven Sages—his heavy robes had ignited from Reshiram’s [Fusion Flare], and only with the help of his comrades did he manage to remove them in time, narrowly avoiding being roasted alive.
In contrast, the Team Rocket trio once again demonstrated their incredible knack for self-preservation.
Realizing the danger early on, they had wisely retreated down the stairs to safety, avoiding harm altogether.
“So this is the power of legendary Pokémon, huh?”
“If we could harness that strength…”
“We’d rescue Boss Giovanni for sure, Meow!”
“And we’d definitely get promoted!”
Team Rocket quickly slipped into fantasy mode.
As for N and Black, the two actual participants, they fared considerably better than the Seven Sages.
Thanks to conscious protection from Zekrom and Reshiram, neither trainer was seriously harmed.
At this moment, both trainers stared intensely at their battling Pokémon.
After their initial powerful strikes, Zekrom and Reshiram had entered close combat, exchanging fierce blows.
Under such conditions, trainer judgment would become crucial.
“Reshiram, [Hyper Voice]!”
N, naturally gifted with the ability to perceive Pokémon’s emotions and speech, was both more experienced and more capable as a trainer. Under his command, Reshiram rapidly gained the upper hand.
In comparison, Black appeared noticeably weaker.
“Zekrom, [Dragon Claw]!”
Although August had transmitted Zekrom’s known moves to him telepathically, Black’s lack of high-level battle experience was clear. Not only was he weaker as a trainer than N, but he also lacked confidence.
Fortunately, Musharna’s power allowed him to remain rational and carefully analyze Reshiram’s openings.
Barely hanging on…
“Aren’t you worried at all, August?” Giovanni asked, observing from the side.
August, gazing upward at the black and white dragons locked in combat, tilted his head curiously toward Giovanni. “Why would I be?”
“Your subordinate is about to lose,” Giovanni said bluntly.
“Lose? I think the battle’s just getting started,” August replied calmly.
Just as August’s words fell, Black suddenly threw out a Poké Ball and leaped backward.
In the next instant, a Zorua lunged through empty air where Black had just stood.
Black’s Poké Ball popped open in midair—
Pignite appeared, swinging its fist downward and landing a fierce punch squarely on Zorua’s face.
Smack!
Zorua, caught off guard by its missed sneak attack, was knocked flying back toward N’s feet.
N frowned deeply, clearly not anticipating his ambush failing.
How did Black even realize I’d sent out Zorua?
N pondered this silently. Meanwhile, Black, now standing behind Pignite, felt cold sweat soaking his back.
That was close...!
Earlier, he’d been completely absorbed in watching the battle overhead when August’s voice had abruptly echoed in his mind, instructing him to dodge.
Luckily, he had listened to August and evaded just in time.
Had that strike connected, he’d surely have lost immediately.
“That was low! Totally dishonorable!” Black shouted angrily at N.
N held his injured Zorua gently. “Real battles aren’t child’s play... Can’t you see that yet?”
August, overhearing N’s words, silently agreed.
Under N’s command, Reshiram resumed an even fiercer assault.
Activating its full power, Reshiram’s tail-engine burned white-hot, the ends of its pure white fur glowing faintly red.
Overdrive Mode!
The intense heat dramatically raised the surrounding temperature, creating a thermal high-pressure system in the sky. This collided with cooler air currents, rapidly forming dense, ominous clouds overhead.
Not to be outdone, Zekrom likewise shifted into Overdrive Mode.
Its black tail-engine spun furiously, glowing electric-blue and discharging massive arcs of electricity. Within the stormy clouds, lightning flickered ceaselessly.
Zekrom concealed itself among the storm, waiting to strike.
The battle had escalated to a new level.
As August observed Zekrom and Reshiram, locked in a stalemate above, his gaze shifted thoughtfully toward Ghetsis and the other sages behind N.
He felt curious.
According to August’s impression, Ghetsis wasn’t the type to place his fate entirely in someone else’s hands.
Yet now, Ghetsis simply stood there, passively watching Reshiram and Zekrom’s fight unfold. Could he genuinely believe that N defeating Black would resolve everything?
Neither fighting nor fleeing...
Was he plotting something else?
Just as this thought crossed August’s mind, his communicator suddenly buzzed.
It was Caitlin, who had been tasked with intercepting any remaining Plasma members outside.
August’s brow rose slightly as he answered.
Caitlin’s tense voice came through clearly, “August, watch out! I just saw a ship flying toward your position!”
A ship? Flying this way?
August raised his head, looking toward the distant horizon.
Sure enough, an archaic sailing vessel, inexplicably airborne and flying at high speed with impossible sci-fi flair, was approaching Dragonspiral Tower.
Anyone seeing this would immediately wonder how on earth that thing was even flying.
Giovanni’s expression became exceedingly strange at the sight.
Team Rocket also has airships, but Plasma built something like this? Did they have some weird hobby or something?
Giovanni couldn’t comprehend.
August, sensing the presence aboard the ship with his Aura, finally grasped Ghetsis’s plan.
Interesting. Ghetsis really did prepare a hidden trick without a sound.
No wonder August hadn’t seen any trace of Colress, Team Plasma’s chief scientist.
In the sky, even Reshiram and Zekrom paused their battle simultaneously, turning toward the strange airship as they sensed the presence approaching them.
