Progress Towards 0.5.0 Milestone Update (1/6)/Winter Solstice Build Now Live!

Update on 1/6 @ 10:40AM: Hello Everyone!  Sorry for the late post (or early in this case for timeframe) as I forgot to update after Tuesday's stream.  I was able to get more programming and art done and am currently moving into heavy bug testing.  There are still a few things I will be tweaking and adjusting but for the most part everything is now programmed into the game and all that is left is checking for bugs (there has been a progress halting one already).

I'm not sure how long bug testing will take as there was quite a few things in this build that have a potential to cause issues.  Since this is another milestone build I'd like to make sure it is as bug free as possible (for major bugs at the very least) but per usual there always seems to be minor bugs that sneak their way in and are fixed in bug fix builds shortly after reports come in.

There are a few things that will be in a bit of a WIP state as follows:

-Desert Path is still a WIP and is a temporary zone you walk through this build.  More will be added to this area in a future update as there will be content from the Khrono Tomb that leads you back there in addition to a side area that I didn't have time to get in.

-The Khrono Manor will have additional areas unlocked after completing the Khrono Tomb in a future update.  A rescued maid is currently standing at the top of the main hallway and references when you've defeated the boss of the Khrono Tomb.

I'll be bug testing and creating a new save that is just after the Spider Girl Cave so people can access this new content immediately if they'd like or play through the game in its current state.  I will be making a post once 0.5.0 is released which will have more information on where we go from here.

Previous update on 1/2: Finished programming the On Map Events and Game Overs into the game.  Worked on fixing up some art assets and alts that I still needed to complete and got a few On Map Sprites made for the sphinx and Face Images for the Shadow Entity. 

Progress is going smoothly on getting 0.5.0 out this month hopefully but we will see.  This update will be adding a lot of event programming that I'll need to test more than usual due to the several different options and situations it creates for various things within the tomb.  

Next I need to do some more of the art such as the State Icons, Face Images, and then the story text/Maps for the Khrono Tomb.

I hope everyone is having a good start to 2021!  Sorry for the lack of update on Thursday but I sort of forgot to update due to New Years Eve and festivities!  Until next time!

Previous update on 12/25: Finished writing the Game Over Scenes and On Map Events and am proofreading them before programming them in.  I was able to program the On Map Events for the Sphinx Riddles and started on the Shadow Entity.  Everything is programmed for the most part for the On Map Events except for the dialogue that takes place while in the tomb.  

I still need to create maps for the various battle areas and then program the boss, but the Khrono Tomb will feature an in map warp system as the Key Item, the Ankhrono Replica, will be disabled during this map until you've beaten it to avoid creating situations where you could simply leave whenever you wanted to (such as during puzzles).  

Once the programing is complete there will be plenty of bug testing to do for this larger segment and working parts.  Then it will be touching up art assets and potentially adding a few placeholders/new art for some of the NPCs that will be making an appearance.

Previous update on 12/25: Got the Quicksand Tile On Map Event programmed on tonight's stream.  There is still a bit of bugs when it comes to a few event triggers in certain situations but for the most part is functioning.  It has functionality that prevents movement, pushes the player into traps, removes party members, removes clothes, and resets the group back to the beginning of the puzzle in the event of every party member being captured.  It also will have slight scene variation depending on who was captured and who is in the party when 'rescuing' the other(s).  

I'll be working on writing the Game Overs so I can program them on stream next week and mess around with the other On Map Events programming as well.  I hope everyone had a nice holiday and a relaxing weekend!  Until next time.

Previous update on 12/25 @ 11:09AM: Sorry for the last of update last night (thursday) but I was busy with family calls and such with the winter holidays and was unable to stream.  I've still been making progress on writing and programming though so there will be things to work on for Saturday's Dev stream.

I've made rough drafts of all On Map Events and will be moving on to the other Game Over scenes as I begin to create maps and program the On Map Events into temporary containers.
