About LIMGAE Patreon Changes

Notice of Changes to LIMGAE's Work Direction and Patreon.

Hello, It's LIMGAE.

I'd like to talk about changes to LIMGAE's Patreon membership and future plans.

For the remainder of October,

I plan to focus on simple fanart. Then, I'll work on improving the composition and refining it.

After that, I'll create the final content set and distribute it to supporters in October.

----------------------------------------------------------------

To summarize:

  1. Starting in November, LIMGAE will no longer create content sets, but will upload directly to Patreon page.

  2. LIMGAE will change its Patreon payment method to a monthly subscription method, rather than per content set.

  3. I will be adding and adjusting Patreon membership tiers (Silver $2, Gold $4~$5).

  4. I will continue to primarily draw fanart, but I will also sometimes draw original works.

I haven't decided on any changes to the LIMGAE Patreon membership yet.

The rough plan is:

Silver Tier: $2

Gold Tier: $4-5

-------------------------------------------

From here on out, there's a lot of text. It's boring and pedantic. Haha... And it feels like an excuse for LIMGAE. If you're still interested, please take a look. Sorry...

Recently, LIMGAE conducted a poll asking whether they would draw fanart or originals.

But that was a mistake. Haha.

I decided that regardless of what LIMGAE draws, their current work structure is flawed.

So, whether they focus on fanart or originals, I ultimately decided that LIMGAE wouldn't be able to do it.

Why LIMGAE is giving up the Content Set method.

The NSFW art market is hard to predict these days, haha.

Even if it's only for a short period of time, it's a structure that favors artists who can quickly capture popular series and characters and create them quickly.

Otherwise, you have to draw fan art for a single series that's not swayed by trends, or create original works.

And the structure has become such that it's more advantageous to draw a lot of low-detail artwork than to create a single high-quality piece. Haha.

These are the works that come to mind when I ask, "What is LIMGAE's art?"But these days, it's hard to even think about trying to draw these

However, the work LIMGAE wanted to draw was something like a "League of Legends splash art".

However, these types of artwork usually take a week, sometimes two weeks or more. This speed, considering LIMGAE's current market position and lack of recognition, is considered a disadvantage.

However, I was able to catch trends and quickly complete low-detail work.

That's why there were some problem.

analyze the problems in LIMGAE’s current work pattern:

  1. -Starts a main work that needs about a week.

  2. -Working on simple fan art alongside it to fill the gap in uploads..

  3. -Completion of the main work gets delayed.

  4. -This cycle repeats → delays in completing the content set.

  5. -Eventually stops everything else and focuses only on finishing the main work or content set.

  6. -Uploads stop → algorithm exposure decreases.

  7. -Because of that, psychological pressure increases → obsession with perfection → slower progress.

In the end, it seems like a vicious cycle where work efficiency goes down and distance from the algorithm keeps growing.

--------------

LIMGAE Ruined by Art Style and Work Speed

My desire to draw high-quality(details) works remains,

but for LIMGAE, whose popularity has been waning, uploading slow-moving works felt risky.

The psychological toll of a long-drawn work not receiving the expected response was devastating.

Indeed, a painting I'd spent seven hours on often received more views and likes than one I'd spent seven days on.

As a result, I increasingly focused on compositions that facilitated faster completion.

As a result, my emotions and compositions became simpler, and I stopped drawing as challenging works as I used to.

I became obsessed with details, unable to boldly experiment with rich elements.

Eventually, my works became increasingly similar, and the psychological pressure eroded my motivation, slowing down my progress.

------------------------

Limitations of the Content Set Method

If LIMGAE were to adapt its content set to current trends, there are two options.

But I don't think either method is good.

  1. Lower the details of the work.

→ While LIMGAE could draw many characters with lower details, the overall quality seemed poor.

Even with lower details, storytelling still took a long time, delaying the completion of the content set.

Including lower-detail work as the main content set didn't seem to be very helpful.

  1. Reduce the number of works included in the content set.

→ But then the content set would become too sparse, making it pointless.

I thought it would be better to upload completed works individually.

And as the number of works decreases, uploads naturally decrease, which also leads to them being eliminated from the algorithm. Haha...😅😥

I've decided that creating content sets, in keeping with LIMGAE's current approach and current trends, is extremely difficult.

So, LIMGAE will abandon the content set method and transition to a subscription method.

In other words, LIMGAE will no longer create "content sets,"

but will instead upload completed works directly to its Patreon page.

------------------------------------------

Advantages of switching to a subscription method

1. Even while working on a time-consuming work, I can pause and quickly work on another work, consistently uploading it.

I can also work on large-scale original work without any burden.

And with the pressure of delays in completing sets removed, I believe I'll be able to create more polished work.

Recently, when I was drawing "Lauma Work," I wanted to add more scenes, but due to scheduling constraints, I had to scale back the scenes and conduct a poll.

Last year, when I was drawing EOG, the completion delays, lack of uploads, and lack of revenue were incredibly detrimental to my mental health.

The impact was even worse when I lost access to Gumroad.

So, I believe that using this paid subscription model will allow me to work on longer-term original works intermittently, allowing me to upload them without compromising the quality of the work even if the completion is delayed.

2. I can also draw low-detail work with more care.

Because I had to finish quickly and move on to the main work, I wasn't able to spend more time on it.

I'll try to draw low-detail work in a style that's not too different from LIMGAE's art style.

Disadvantages of the Subscription method

1. To be honest,

this method was no different from asking for money without the artist completing or uploading the work.

I didn't like it because it felt like I was taking my supporters' hard-earned money too easily.

However, I feel like the current content set model is becoming a liability to me.

That's why I decided to abandon the content set method and switch to a subscription method.

2. It's cumbersome for supporters to receive my work.

It's convenient to receive all of my work in one go by bundling it into a content set, but with a subscription model, I have to download the files every time I upload a work, which is cumbersome.

There's also the issue of accessibility to my work, which I'll work on improving the layout of my Patreon page.

-------------------------------------

Future Plans

Actually, I've been really envious and jealous of how other artists operate their Patreon membership tiers. Haha

"They're charging that price for that kind of structure?"

So I'm going to try something.

I haven't decided on any changes to the LIMGAE Patreon membership yet.

The rough plan is:

Silver Tier: $2

Gold Tier: $4-5

I'm still thinking about membership rewards.

For now, I'm planning to run only the Silver tier in November, monitor my work cycle throughout the month, and then consider adding a Gold tier.

I'm reluctant to do this because it feels like it's taking away everything I already have in the Silver tier.

However, given LIMGAE's current state, I don't think I can do anything more. I apologize.

------------------------------------

In closing...

LIMGAE is currently going under, against my will.

Right now, I'm standing on the edge of a cliff, against my will.

But if that's the case, I'd rather jump off of my own will. hahaha🤣

Right now, all I have in my life is art.

No family🤔, No friends🤨, No pets😥, No talent😭, No money🤮, No Nintendo Switch 2🤣, etc.

Every day, I think about dying, but I thought, in my next life, I want to study art from a young age.

so I thought, "Ah~, LIMGAE really love drawing."

My heart races at the thought of this as a challenge.

It's also something I've always wanted.

I'll have to wait and see how things go in November and December before making a decision.

If you have any other opinions, suggestions, or advice, please leave a comment or message. Haha...

Thank you. I'll do my best to survive.

Thank you very much.😪 I will do my best for those who believe in me and support me.😥 Thank you.(✿◡‿◡)

LIMGAE

Thank you for your encouragement and advice.(✿◡‿◡) I used to push myself to overcome my limitations, but now I think it's time to take a hard look at myself. Haha... I wanted to be a unique and different artist, but that didn't work out. I thought I'd be okay if I could get a lot of people to buy my content sets, even if they were cheap, but when they lost popularity, I completely failed. Hahahahahaha. I wanted to be an artist who could mass-produce high-quality NSFW art, but that was beyond my capabilities. So, I think I need to stop overestimating myself and focus on only the work I can. It's a little sad. I have hope that, "If I didn't have the pressure of a deadline for completing content sets, I could draw more daringly, like the old LIMGAE." Haha... I'll have to do my best from now on. I'll be able to draw more freely in the future, so I'll practice and study hard to create even better art. Thank you!

Personally I don't have a problem with this plan. Fundamentally, from a supporter standpoint it's like the same thing except you don't pack up the art at the end of the month. Kind of like going to McDonald's but you have to bring your own bag. I personally don't mind waiting but is there really a demand for having it as it releases? As for your personal dilemma, again I can't speak for everyone, but I think if you were honest and up front about the process (as you are now) most of your supporters would be understanding of your situation. Like if you said that every month you get two masterpieces. Like LoL quality splash arts, I would certainly be understanding of that. I don't know if anyone remembers Kienan Lafferty but he essentially took a month to do one LoL quality splash art and at the time he considered it his masterpiece so I do know that process can be very time consuming. So if someone told me that I would get two of those a month, for $2 bucks, this would be very exciting. There is something to be said about "quality over quantity," and if you took a long time to make something I feel like that anticipation would be there for all followers and when it got released it would be a huge moment (similar to that feeling when Daniel Day-Lewis puts out a new movie after 5 years. That is a huge moment.) This comes down to another thing I've said and I've seen others say (which you seem to be addressing here) is that you are low-balling yourself. I follow a couple of other artists and for $10 you get 5 or 6 pieces but they are generally much more simple than what you put out. You on the other hand make an elaborate piece each time and make 5 or 6 of them with billions of variations, for 2 dollars. That seems wild. So if you said that you're going to release two pieces each month that are the quality of The Sistine Chapel, of course I'd be here for $2 but even $5 I'd be here for. (10 dollars? LFG!) I don't really know how to wrap this up. I guess I just hope you're able to get your passion back without burning yourself out, stressing yourself out about all these other things. We are your supporters we want LIMGAE to be healthy mind, body and on the canvas. Hopefully this experiment works out for you. 🙇‍♂️

Justin

I'm good with whatever I'm just here to help support your art even if it's just a little. 🥸👍
