Johnny Cash "Ring of Fire" Guitar Lesson

Hello friends,

and welcome back to Swiftlessons for another by request song tutorial! In today's session I'll be breaking down how to play Johnny Cash's classic 1963 rendition of "Ring of Fire" by June Carter. We'll begin by learning how to perform the tunes iconic intro on the guitar, before mastering the chords and strumming patterns for the verse and chorus sections. Let's get started!

Hi Rob could you do the Eric Clapton classic Lay Down Sally

Hi Rob, could you please possibly do a lesson for the song ' A Thing Called Love' by Jerry Reed, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Glen Campbell. It's got some beautiful riffs and licks throughout and is just a gorgeous song.

Thanks for the tip. My ear is pretty sensitive to brighter sounds, so that's why I went for the nylon strings, it's a little more mellow than the steel string... but I agree, pretty rough, I'll dig into the signature options and see if I can find something better.

Great lesson Rob. I notice that you set the GP file to use a nylon string guitar, I think using a steel string model (maybe one from the Signature options) would make it sound better when played in GP software. For me, on a PC at least, the nylon guitar sounded rough.

Outstanding lesson-great work!

Really interesting, Rob. I love the shift in stumming and the walkups. I learn something new each time. As always, ya dun good! Hope it's been a great trip.

Fantastic job Rob. Loved it. Keep it coming.

Hey friends, thanks for checking out this lesson, let me know what you think. I'm working on a guitar pro 7 file for this, so check back later for that resource. Enjoy! -Rob
