Essential Blues Lead Guitar Lesson - How to Use the Open Pentatonic Rock Scale

Hello friends,
and welcome to another Swiftlessons Lick of the Week! In this tutorial I'll break down one of my go-to licks within the open position of the E minor pentatonic scale. Use the attached “Anatomy of the Open Em Pentatonic Scale” diagram to memorize the numeric intervals associated with each note in the scale. Once we’ve familiarized ourselves with the intervals within this scale position, I’ll show you how to adjust our lick for each of the common chords in a standard blues progression in they key of E. Let’s get started!

Mission accomplished then Michael! This lead guitar stuff is pretty simple, but when it piles up it can be very intimidating. Best to take it bit by bit, and master the basics of jamming over simple blues and rock tunes.

Love the way you teach. Makes it easy to understand.

just became a Patreon and this is what I have been wanting to learn is lead.

Nice sounding lick accompanied by just the right amount of teaching on broader applications. Thanks!

Thanks for a very educational lesson. Always appreciate the theory behind the licks!
