Jimi Hendrix Style Repetition Lick - Blues Rock Lead Guitar Lesson

Hello friends,

and welcome to another Swiftlessons Lick of the Week! In this tutorial I'll break down one of my favorite Hendrix style repetition licks that you can use to fill in space, and build the tension within your solos.

My lead guitar philosophy has always been quality over quantity, however speed is a powerful tool when used sparingly. Repetition licks like those featured in my demonstration are an easy way to grab your listeners attention, and provide you with a window of time to prepare your next phrase or transition.

Tabs for additional licks are included in our PDF, and are broken down in the extended cut of this lesson for premium patrons. Once you have each lick mastered in the key of E, I recommend practicing over backing tracks in a variety of keys. Let’s get started!

Hey from Chicago Rob, love all of your tutorials. I’m a better guitar player because of your lessons. Thank you!! Anyway you can give tabs for the backing track?

Just joined and I'm not exactly sure where to put a song request in but I would love to see your version of cry to me by solomon burke. You seem like you really like the rhythm and blues and I've looked online and I just can't find anything that emulates the percussion in the song...and you did an awesome job bringing that out in what'd i say. Also I'd love to solo to it... I know there's no solo in the song, but if you could show me what you would do that would be great. I know you're busy but if you could find the time I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hey Rob,

Hey Robert, are you requesting a chord sheet or a video lesson?

Hey Bill, sorry, as of now everything is streaming. I do intend to start offering other formats, possibly even mp3. The issue is that these files are very large.

Don't think twice its alright

I am really enjoying the lessons but not to tec savey. I don't have wi-fi is there any way to get or save the lessons as mp3?
