Thoughts on Patreon

It's been a few days since I've launched this page. I want to write down some of the neat things I have noticed about this platform.

First of all, it was as I predicted. The amount of likes each post gets doesn't affect me in any bad way whatsoever. In fact, the likes just serve as a cute way to see who saw the post first. Sometimes I click on it and think, "Oh, this person just saw it. Cool!" And even though not everyone hits the button, they're still paying for access to the page, so they're going to see my art at some point anyway (which is all I ever ask). So the 'like' button issue has been solved! It feels great! And the comments are fantastic as well. Feel free to comment however you please. It fills me with a very special kind of happiness to see people as into my characters and their development as I am.

Another massive perk I completely did not notice until yesterday was that I can edit my posts without deleting them outright! On Twitter one of the worst feelings of all time is when you post an art piece and then see an error in it. Your stomach sinks to the bottom of your ankles because it's already been posted for an hour, a ton of people have seen it, and you don't wanna delete it because it'll lose all its engagement. But on here, none of that is a concern! I can just edit the post, replace the image however I please, and done! I've already done it once for the "No Daughter" post, and I think I'll do it again for the most recent one named "Research." This ability might not seem like a big deal to many, but to the artists out there... man, they know.

I also think this Community tab is fantastic! It's a great way to filter from my art posts and everything else. I believe others can also make posts here, or is it just me? Regardless, this is a tab I'll post my thoughts on just like this quite often. Maybe we can do a Q&A on Miss B and Brie. Might be super fun!

Last but certainly not least, I have never felt this excited to draw Miss B and Brie ever. Seriously. Ever. Probably because nothing is as motivating as the thought of, "People are literally paying me money specifically to see them and their shenanigans." I have never felt this level of joy and confidence drawing my characters before. Thankfully, it's motivating yet also not putting any pressure on me either due to how I specified that I'll be drawing them however I want, whenever I want. So no rush on my part to deliver things constantly. As this semester ramps up, I'm sure I'll get bogged down. But more art will always be around the corner!

I think that's all for now. I'll add to this in the comments if I think of more. I wonder if this post pings patrons just like when I post my art. Let me know in the comments!

XOXOXO,

-Bobber

Oh also, I don’t think I got a notification, but I was at work, so I might’ve just missed it

Hmm, looks like this didn't post into the community tab and it's just on the main feed. So I guess that the community tab is solely for patrons to post? If that's the case, someone make a post there. I wonder how that works.
