I would STRONGLY advise against that for a first playthrough. For all it adds it also just plainly removes other content. It also has the chance to severely fuck you over if you do not want to reload dice rolls.

the main problem is that controller is literallymissing some important features that k&m only has and there is no denying it. Approval info is shown as good or bad etc, while on kbm you can see a percentage. K&m has a torch button, dual wielding button, easier inventory management, ability to search in inventory, ability to drag and drop in inventory, party view, much more comfortable to customise the hotbar. I might forget some things tho, since I played it > 6m ago.

I'm fairly certain it doesn't do that. I played the whole game a few times with a controller and never had to zoom out from third person so idk

When you’re playing with controller it defaults to following right behind your character in 3rd person when you move around, in a zoomed in view a la most other third person games. But with mouse and keyboard you get the isometric birds eye view, you can still use both of course even with controller but then you have to make a habit of zooming out constantly to get the full picture because by default it tracks right behind your character. Correct me if I’m wrong though but that’s how it’s showing up in Welonz’ playthrough who also started with controller and many of her comments are saying the same thing bc she was missing very obvious things by being zoomed in way too much all the time. It’s pretty obvious the maps and puzzles were designed with the isometric far view in mind and the controller movement came in as an afterthought

I don't know, i never really spent any time setting up radials and it played just fine, like, you can do it if you want to set it up in a specific way but you don't have to. Also i checked and the zoom level is the exact same for both keyboard and mouse and controller. Sure you can zoom in, but you can also do that with the mouse. I just feel like saying that keyboard and mouse is the way to go seems a bit dogmatic when in my opinion it just results in a worse experience, even though it's a personal preference thing for sure. I just think people are really sleeping on the controller for this game and overall hurting their enjoyment of it.

the problem with the controller mode for BG3 imo is that the camera is way too zoomed in all the time and the levels were not designed to account for this, for ex. a lot of puzzles can be much more difficult if you are not looking at a zoomed out birds eye view of the map like the game was originally designed for, Other than that caveat it’s not the worst system but keyboard and mouse is just the way to go for BG3. Poor Mapo doesn’t need to spend hours setting up radials

I'll just say about Baldur's Gate 3 : i don't know if you've started playing it yet or not, and i know that traditionally these games are more suited to keyboard and mouse, but i find BG3's controller settings to be extremely well made, whereas the keyboard and mouse very often feels quite janky and frustrating. Everyone i've seen playing k+m has been at some point annoyed by it, and honestly once you get used to the way it works, BG3 with a controller is just a joy to play. Also the UI is way less busy that way, and at least for me i know that this has made the whole game much more enjoyable, and there never was a situation in which i felt limited by the controller, which could happen in older games like Divinity Original Sin 2. Just my two cents, hopefully i'm not alone to feel this way !
