Whether she likes the work or or not is kinda not yalls opinions to begin with.. where was this energy when Witness/Smile came anyways imo the artistic sound and direction of the album is def outdated and some songs (esp the collabs) def come off as bland or done in bad taste (etc. WW, Gimme, Truth). however, I do enjoy a good chunk of the album and loved the simplicity of the project, I also wished that some of the tracks were longer (etc. IHHM, All The Love, Nirvana, Wonder) p.s. also that transition 😍😍 so excited to see Ajay’s reaction

Watch Chappell's performance. A good way to tell if someone is actually singing live is being able to hear them inhale when they sing. You can hear Chappell inhale. Watch Ariana perform "God is a Woman" at the VMAs, and you can hear her breathing against the microphone. You don't hear that with Katy Perry most of the performance because she's using a pre-recorded track where they removed most of the breaths so it sounds better. I can tell when people are lip-syncing. Sorry.

I think you are misunderstanding what I mean by pre-record. Most of the acts used backing tracks that were from the professional in-studio recording. Chappell used it on the choruses (as most artists do). LISA used it for her entire performance. She was singing live, but her backing track was turned up loud enough that you could barely hear her live vocals. Sabrina was singing live and had a backing track for the choruses. When I say Katy Perry was using a pre-record, I mean she had a pre-recorded track that sounds like a live vocal, but it's actually lipsynced. Katy Perry doesn't have good enough breath support to do as much movement as she did without sounding out of breath. That's the biggest indicator. Beyonce is actually the artist who popularized this technique for faking a live vocal. I'm not saying she never sings live, but she definitely used to use a pre-recorded "live track" in a lot of her performances. When she got caught lipsyncing the national anthem that time, that was not her first time at the rodeo.

i think camilas was one of the more interesting ones as it was more artistically driven. it starts with “June Gloom” aka the og album closer and camilas cxoxo look. she then pauses that and sings “Godspeed” aka a farewell song and the closer of the deluxe version with her usual look outside of cxoxo. with this song choice and destroying the laptop, she’s essentially saying “ik this era was not for everyone but i needed to get this out of me, like its an artistic clog stopping my creative flow. but now that its out of me, i can continue as i did before and also say farewell (or maybe even a “fuck u!”) to this era as it served its purpose: artistic release.” which i think is actually rly beautiful to think ab as she did it for her, not for the public.

Oh and to answer the question? I guess it did... and no offense for what I am gonna risk saying... But the album was kinda meh. Because... it came out and got a mixed reception from critics and it was her first album to not debut within the top 10 of the album charts from Billboard 200 at Number 13. And also whilst my country gave it a spot at Number 20 and barely making it within the Top 20 to begin with. And so with no hate at all... Do you now see why she might be changing her hair back to the OG color it used to be... even though the album is her all new very recent one? :)

I personally think Camila chose God Speed as her way of saying that she is going back to basics. Like she was blonde for the new era of this new album but now she is back to her original hair color and smashed the laptop that had her previous hair color on it and you saw how the other women took off their balaclavas. Mainly in my opinion... as their way of saying goodbye to this album. That is why I think Camila chose that song as her main only song for the VMAs.

To me, Halsey, Chappell, and GloRilla had the best actual live performances of the night. Katy was definitely a pre-record, but she brought the visuals. I didn't love Sabrina's performance. It was a little messy for me. Megan's performance was a little lackluster too, but it mostly seemed like it was because of the staging, because she gave a really good performance. LISA was a little off. I think she was nervous.
