Star Trek: The Original Series - "The Menagerie Part 2" Full Reaction!

Watch along with your own copy of the episode by psyncing up with me!
Your observation that some parts of The Cage didn't make it into The Menagerie is entirely correct. Not only were the other zoo specimens left out, there was a specific line of dialogue removed by Standards and Practices, the network's censors.
Pike: What, and dress you in the same metal fabric they wear?
Vina: I have to wear something... don't I?
That last line was deemed a bit too provocative for the viewers, yet somehow a green slave woman gyrating to some kickass music was perfectly acceptable. Not that I have any complaint about their choice.

Greetings Bunny. Your prediction of the end of this episode made my wife and I join. I could write a BOOK about the impact of this episode on me and my wife.
(In fact, and I'm not kidding, I wrote a quality semi-true screenplay about Jeffrey Hunter's journey to and past Captain Pike. A story that a friend later pointed out becomes The Cage itself.)
Anyway, I want to share I am the youngest of 3 brothers. Because they were older and already weary of Disney, my Disney age was brief. Instead of seeing BEDKNOBS & BROOMSTICKS, I saw DOG DAY AFTERNOON. I saw 2001 when I was 6 and POSEIDON ADVENTURE when I was 8.
For some reason I had no problem being on this advanced films studies course. I mention all this to prepare you for the fact I was likely 11 years old the first time I saw THE MENAGERIE.
The way you emotionally reacted to all this? Imagine how impressionable it would have been when you were 11? Spock's GALAXY CLASS act of kindness and compassion has meant more to me than any religious doctrine anywhere.

Bunny you've made Star Trek fun again. Seeing it through your eyes as you experience it is wonderful...and YES to green slave Bunny. I'm not sure if it's doable but if it is, it would be great.

What has the US Military been revealing that is worth exploring?

As always Bunny, it's been a real joy re-discovering the series with you, so thanks again for doing all of this and for your very good commentary. I always LOL at least once to something you say. :)
That realization at the start of the episode was pure gold and so great to watch along with your emotions at the end. :)
It wasn't common for shows from the 60's to do two parters. That trend took off in the 80's and 90's.
I've always loved the music from the original Star Trek. Lot of good pieces, that really stand out as you noted.
Here's a fun fact about Star Trek which I thought I'd mention cause it was right about now (when this episode originally aired) that the TV Guide article was published, copied from Wikipedia as they wrote this better then I could:
Isaac Asimov and Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry developed a unique relationship during Star Trek's initial run in the late 1960s. Asimov wrote a critical essay on Star Trek's scientific accuracy for TV Guide magazine. Roddenberry retorted respectfully with a personal letter explaining the limitations of accuracy when writing a weekly series. Asimov corrected himself with a follow-up essay to TV Guide claiming despite its inaccuracies, that Star Trek was a fresh and intellectually challenging science fiction television show. The two remained friends to the point where Asimov even served as an adviser on a number of Star Trek projects.

The next Star Trek series should be a reboot of what we are learning about UAP in human evolution. Gravitational propulsion. Dimensional leaps. It should all be based upon what the United States military has been revealing over the last few years.
