The principle is that ethical practices lead to more stable returns. If a company violates something like health and safety regulations, cyber security, or workers rights it may lead to losses for Investors later on. Such as strike action, regulatory fines etc. Deliveroo, a food delivery company in the UK and Ireland was refused investment by 6 of the largest investment firms on concerns over employment practices. The riders aren't classified as employees and conditions in which they work are very dangerous. This is seen as an investment risk as change in employment laws could derail the entire company. The ratings of ESG are bullshit as there's no set rule and ESG score companies often change how the calculate the ratings. However, most investment companies do their own studies of a company to calculate risk before investing. Do some research, Vito and hammer Dick on this. He was a real prick to you on this episode.
