PSA: Playing SWF Files From Archive (or anywhere else)

So the recent purge of Adobe/Macromedia Flash went even deeper than I thought it would. I assumed it would just remove the SWF playing support from all major browsers but now a recent Windows 10 update has blocked it from running at a software level outside of browsers. Which, for now, renders the Swift Player and the Newgrounds Flash Player unusable, since they relied on the plug-in being installed locally to function before the killswitch was pulled.

So here are some new options in case you ever want to go back to my crusty old SWF animations:

Inside the [OLD FLASH ANIMATIONS] folder in the archive, I've dropped FlashPlayer32. It was one of the last official stable standalone SWF players Adobe released that didn't rely on anything extra to play flash files. Simply launch it, open your swf of choice with it and call it a day.

If you are more technically saavy, I would recommend checking out this thread posted over on Newgrounds. A couple folks are working hard on this and may have found a few other long term solutions.

Download the flasherplayer32 from the archive. It's a stand-alone app that doesn't need to install anything in Windows and it SHOULD play swf files. Or is that app not working anymore?

I found that someone on a hentai flash website said in the comments of a game that all you need to do to get flash working is change the date on your pc to 12/20/20. and believe it or not it worked the flash game started.
