Future Project: Slave Rehabilitator

Now that the postgame release isn't so hectic, it's time for the last in my series of potential projects after TLS. This post was ready a while back, but there was too much other stuff going on. Without further ado:

Imagine a fantasy world filled with hentai tropes... where you run a clinic that takes them in entirely wholesome directions. There are a million adult games where adventurers get addicted to monster sex and scenes play out basically the same way, so this is the inverse: you and a collection of friendly monsters instead help them recover.

This is thematically a spiritual successor to TLS, in terms of taking ill-considered sex tropes and fleshing out the world they might create, but mechanically very different. At its core Slave Rehabilitator is a management game where you help various clients rebuild themselves. Graduated clients send money back, which you use to upgrade the clinic, unlock new treatments, etc. There will also be plenty of plot stuff and opportunities to explore various angles.

(These are the first three main characters, who I guess can't go entirely without introduction. On the left we have Norvan, a doctor who wants to start the rehabilitation clinic. Kyuble on his shoulder is a friendly tentacle monster. Brinnia is an adventurer who becomes their first client and then joins the clinic staff.)

Slave Rehabilitator is a collaboration with artist SpiceyKali, whose work you see throughout the post. She does hand-drawn animations, which I was hoping to lean on to give the project a different visual identity. As I've said before, I don't know how much space there is in the adult games industry for anything I'd want to create, but this is another major swing at it.

Accordingly, one of the first animations will be a bit excessive, but hopefully convey that the project has a budget and is more cozy than bleak:

The plan is to give players options, shifting between the main looped animations but also providing a more directed version of the scene that autoplays. None of this is voiced currently, but the plan would be to get more voice actors for the final game. I hope people enjoy the aesthetic we have in mind for this one!

The art for this looks polished, because Kali knows what she's doing, but this project is not really in a complete state. It has been on the back burner, doing concept art and preproduction while I focused on TLS, but hopefully it's primed for launch at some point! I want the first public build to include a significant plot section plus the core mechanics all solid.

I will need to follow up on some coding things I tried to set in motion some time ago as well, as the fundamental management systems will need some custom work. The plan is to do this in Ren'Py, since it's a familiar engine that should be able to handle this sort of game just fine.

Now, one last topic for this post: semen. No, seriously! We were playing around with what color tentacle monsters should have: white is the generic choice, but wouldn't it be more interesting from a worldbuilding perspective if we had different species have distinct colors? So the last attachment to the post is an assortment of options, and I'm very curious which ones people will think are appealing or unappealing.

My primary focus remains on TLS, but unlike some of these other "maybe one day" projects, all Slave Rehabilitator needs to move forward is my full time and budget. You will hear more about it eventually. ^-^
