March 23 Update

Promotion is terrible, everyone. This Kickstarter has been so draining. Please don't take this as trying to badger anyone for support, it's just an explanation for why this post is going to be the laziest promo ever.

Look, Kickstarter:

It's almost over.

I was tempted to post literally just that, but will say a little more. It looks like the KS has reached its fundamental goals (both nominal and abstract), and though I will be doing another grueling around of promo, I'm too tired to care how much higher it goes or how many of the higher tiers are taken. Later I'll do a post-mortem and some analysis, as one of my goals was always to gain information for later efforts. Regardless, we're almost done, then I need to pivot to making good on those promises.

Kickstarter is just rejecting your card's country of origin? That's unfortunate. =/ There may be no way around it if KS is being stubborn. What's your goal here - general support, or did you want a specific reward? The percentage taken on KS is about the same as Patreon, so I can get you your reward if you would prefer that!

I need to know how to donate to the Kickstarter. It will not accept my Discovery card saying it is not a supported country. Patreon accepts it readily enough. However, I know they take a decent percentage. Please inform me on what to do

Hang in there! One more week! Definitely looking forward to that post-mortem. It just occurred to me that I actually have no idea why promotion is so hard and what the nitty-gritty of it all entails. You aren't the only creator I follow who resents having to do it. I suppose you can consider this as a green card for you to complain about everything you hate about promotion and marketing lol.

I'd love to see the analytics of it all. How much attention and money does the campaign get at the start, the end, 10% in, 30%, 50%, 70%? And the like. This wouldn't be a representative of every small-scale campaign of course, but it should give a good idea of the general flow. All I know is that campaigns get more attention at the tail end, but that's really it.

Thank you for asking, but noting comes to mind! I have no experience with promotion OR game making, so asking for something specific/random feels like wasting your time lol. Honestly, most my enjoyment of those post comes from the "Look behind the curtain" aspect of it!

I don't know if the initial post will be that long, but I'm glad there's some anticipation! Is there anything in particular you were hoping to see from the postmortem?

Sierra Lee

You're almost to the end, take care you don't burn out! Also can't wait for that Post-mortem/Analysis, I always enjoy those really long post of yours!
