Future Project: Don't Save the Princess

First: This is the first update about future projects, but we have TLS stuff first! The achievements update has gone public, without any major complaints but also without much feedback. Some details:

Anyway: DStP!

The theme/story of this game is best introduced by the trailer, so I hope you can view it on Steam:

DStP is me trying to do something fun and different as a break between my heavier projects! So many of my games are story-heavy and catering to optimizers, I wanted to have at least one casual game in my portfolio. I personally think the core gameplay has a fun timing-based flow.

Unfortunately, this project's history is not so fun. I started this years ago, intending it to be a short and quick side project. Instead it lagged for various reasons, including hiring programmers who just made things worse and the artist going AWOL for months. In general it has been easy for this to stay on the backburner while I prioritized TLS and other things.

Now, however, this is actually happening! I have playtested a build that, if not fully polished, is feature complete. The programmer I'm working with now is doing a good job, and the artist... well, he only has one scene left, so it can't be too bad. >_<

My plan has always been to use this project to dip my toe into Kickstarter, making some early mistakes and establishing a history on that platform before I try for something more ambitious. The trouble is finding the right window: running a Kickstarter takes energy and requires a whole block of time.

Things are finally close. I have partnered with Annikath and we have a lot of the campaign set up, plus some fun things like an animated sex scene over two minutes long! Currently we are waiting on a video editor and a background artist... both of whom I commissioned multiple weeks ago. =/ Hopefully this will come together.

If it doesn't happen soonish, it will probably need to be much later, because there are limited windows where I don't need most of my attention on TLS. In an ideal world I would like to have this one already in motion before the conclusion of TLS, but we'll see. I also have a book launch coming up and a bunch of other WIP TLS stuff. Regretting scheduling that vacation again. >_<

So you will definitely hear more about this! At minimum, $10 patrons will get to see the animated scene, plus other preparation. Expect further updates on the campaign as things come together.

Thank you so much for looking into this! When I put her check together I swept in the entire set of book switch, not remembering that some were denigrated. This is almost certainly the cause, so I have fixed it on my end. DStP is hopefully coming soon. ^-^

Looked through the library thing (on 78.1 sorry if this is already out of date) but Orilise's check call for "Swtich 2341 Altina Books" and "Switch 2342 Orilise Libary" two switches that do not make anything in the library appear. (Not sure what they are for, or if they are ever used.) I think it should fix things to remove those two checks from Orilise's event, and lowering the total number needed for completion from 19 to 17. There are 23 total bookshelves, but 6 are filled by default. So there are 17 to unlock. And looking forward to DStP!

It still looks up from my end, but Twitter did put an "adult content" label on it, so maybe that's preventing some people from seeing it?

Sierra Lee

Hey! not sure if the problem is on my end or not, but the link to Qum's trading card leads to a "does not exist" page for me.

Tim

Very happy with the achievements, glad they were included

I originally didn't consider GOG because they rejected larger games, but that seems to have changed. I like the idea of putting my work there, I've essentially just been waiting for a good opportunity when TLS is in a polished state and I have enough time.

Sierra Lee

I think I'm about done, but I wanted everyone to see the card. ^-^

That Trading Card is pretty tame, I couldn't fathom why Valve didn't like it. Quick question you've probably already answered somewhere, but I still gotta ask. How do you feel about also putting your Games on "Good Old Games"? There are plenty of adult games, so they probably don't have a problem with that. Thanks to the Germany Laws, Steam doesn't even acknowledge your games existence (except for DStP, which looks awesome by the way) and it would be nice to actually own some of them. No idea how feasible it would be, especially considering your crammed schedule. Thanks

I really hope this goes well. But in the end artistry is a very motivation/inspiration dependant occupation so it is in its nature that it takes a long time. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Gl

The way you simply won't let go of Valve rejecting Qum's trading card is so *delightfully* petty, I love it.
