Yes, they all killed large numbers of people, but the reasons for the deaths are wildly different (the point of the policy on one hand vs. either a terrible side-affect of the result of personal paranoia on the other), as is the scale of actual deliberate killing (as opposed to deaths from policy mistakes or from being invaded by a hostile army). Nazis insist that there isn’t actually any difference between these types of reasons for mass death in order to perpetuate the narrative that communism (and thus also anything remotely left of center) are just as bad as Nazism, as the first step towards trying to rehabilitate Nazism and make it an acceptable ideology.
