The REAL Reason CEOs Hate Remote Work - EARLY ACCESS, AD-FREE, and UNCENSORED

Hi. We've been told that 2025 is the year that remote working will die, despite it often being good for workers and their employers. CEOs hate it though, and they're working to get rid of it.

The REAL Reason CEOs Hate Remote Work - EARLY ACCESS, AD-FREE, and UNCENSORED

Why is no one asking the real questions? When is Jonathan giving us his thoughts on the Bob Dylan movie, A Complete Unknown!?

Please put the But I Digress logo on some merch!

Love the video as always! But I wanted to mention that if ya'll put the "But I Digress: with some guy and a puppet" on a shirt, I will 100% buy it. Too good, keep up the amazing work!

My company Wells Fargo has a plan to implement AI in 3 years time and suddenly the whole analytics department which is over 1722 employees, who were mostly hired remotely to get the best talent years before the pandemic, now suddenly are required to work from the office 3 days a week if there is an office within 35 miles of them. Plus, WF announced that now only 5 office locations are going to be available to work out of, even though we have employees, great employees most very bright and effective, scattered all across the country. If you don't live near one of these 5 locations you'll lose your job in , you guessed it , in the next 3 years. They claim it's about leveraging our technology but that makes no sense at all. They are trying to make us quit. I got a medical exemption to continue WFH due to my ADD, and live within 35 miles from one of the sites, but I had plans to move this year to a large acreage property in a semi forested area in Tenesse/Kentucky area with no neighbors. But if I move, I lose my job. I think the return to office is to get rid of workers as AI will be taking over many jobs

“…because of course he is!” Hadn’t heard that turn of phrase since Star War News. I think that was Cody’s choice of words.

This could not be better timed. I just saw my uncle for the first time in two years this morning. We only spoke for about five minutes, but in that time, he asked me what I was doing for work. After finding out I do my job from home, he went on a tangent about how people who work from home are taking away from the economy by not driving to work and not buying lunch when they're at work. He has been a CEO of a small company before. The disconnect between social classes is horrendous right now. Heaven forbid I save money on gas and buying a (frequently unhealthier) lunch than what I can make at home.

If they make me work in the office again, I'll just do my bong rips in my car instead of on my porch.

Who else has 'who can say where the road goes where the day flows only time' stuck in their head?

Speaking as someone with payroll experience, that is likely so that they keep all their employees under one set of laws. Multi-state employers can very quickly have a nightmare on their hands, trying to standardize employment and benefit policies

I got accepted into a grant program that pays people to move to Tulsa Oklahoma for a year and pays them $10,000. I was working remote for my employer, but was only allowed to work remotely within the state 🙄 So I couldn't take advantage of the program. Noticing that a lot of jobs that are remote eligible, require you to work within the city or state that the company has offices in. Very frustrating. So I probably won't be able to take advantage of the remote program in Tulsa. There are remote jobs out there, but a lot of them are ghost jobs or just awful customer service jobs that pay terribly. Or, they're on the opposite side of the spectrum and are super specialized roles. 😵‍💫
