If you remember that's how Erased did the main character waking up from a coma he fell into as a child. Inner voice child, outer voice adult. Which was also a fun reverse of how they did it when he went back in time to his child's body, Inner voice adult, outer voice child.

2024-07-24 13:13:57 +0000 UTCIt's sad, but if Toya had reached out when he went home, I doubt things would have turned out any better; he was still mentally unstable, and the implication from that flashback is that he had to kill everyone, including the other kids, to escape. Maybe things would have been okay for a second, but as soon as questions were asked and the story was told, Endeavour probably would have freaked out and disowned Toya, called him a criminal or shunned him to protect his and the family's image and not taint his or Shoto's chances at becoming the number one hero. Toya likely would have fallen to the same dark path he's on now, seeking revenge and acknowledgement.
