Chapter 597 – Divine pardon

Comments

It actually wouldn't let him become a god. Assume he actually managed to pull off his plan and get up to clear and become immortal before the bug queen reveals what he did, that would attract Phoebe's attention and she'd find out what he did. Given what we've seen of her do you honestly think she'd let him live to become a god?

Michael Maor

He can't actually kill him now. Even ignoring the trick Phoebe pulled on him if he simply attacks directly he'll be facing Percy, his Grandfather, and several other Violets together. He might survive that fight but he won't be killing Percy in it. And that's assuming none of the other Whites decide to take the opportunity to kill Machon...

Michael Maor

Most likely, but it doesn't actually matter even if Machon does by some miracle manage to beat him, or did you miss the phrasing of Phobe's pardon? “Have it your way. I won’t stop you from attacking Percy or even his House, but you’re not allowed to get anyone with the Clone bloodline killed,” Percy has the clone bloodline, i.e Machon is not allowed to get him killed.

Michael Maor

Why does it feel that way to you? You didn't explain why you think that way.

Steph

Not a fan of the way the Macheon plotline has gone for a while. Almost as annoying as the asspull with Rambert from ages ago. Feels dumb as hell, and unnecessary. Doesn't feel like an organic conflict in the story at all, just an artificial and pointless plotline, probably setting up an annoying damsel situation with Nesha based on the "don't touch anyone with the clone bloodline" stipulation, that obviously leaves Nesha open. Very annoying to read. I truly love and enjoy the power system, and the process of percy gaining knowledge and might, but if these plots keep going, I'm going to lose interest. I dropped the story for around a year ish? last time. I'm taking another break. Hope I won't be locked out via amazon when I come back, because I probably will have a hard time justifying diving right back into a max tier straight away.

10 years? Might as well commit suicide now. Percy is going to stomp this insect into oblivion

Michael

Man hes such a B*tch he has to make a ten year plan to kill someone he could kill now while he knows he can to 10 years later to "i hope still can"

Now it is, Percy told the Alchemy Elders and I assume they told everyone else.

So is it universally known that Machaon had stolen the princess decades ago probably before Percy was born? That he fooled all the gods and they did nothing about it? That Hermes called out Percy but then didn't capture him? I know the gods don't care about mortal opinions, but this will be part of a major culture shift along with Percy's renaissance, humanity will realize the gods aren't much above mortals and even mortals can best them... Hopefully after this arc we get to learn about Remoir's political stance and foreign policy status. I'm worried that the next arc will be about an infestation or Cardinal devil and he'll have to grow to of over come that with pushing his alchemy. I'm hoping we get more world hopping and exploration.

Yea Pheobe's reaction to this entire situation is dumb, people call Machaon dumb which I disagree with (it was literally his only chance at becoming a god, no matter the consequences of his actions currently it won't matter if he's living his life as a god in a million years) however Pheobe's reaction to all this and her stance in general has been extremely stupid, it doesn't matter how unlikely it is that anyone was dumb enough to attack the hive she should have had at least 2 whites stationed at the hive at all times if not a god, she claims to only care about the bigger picture yet she didn't care about protecting the only thing her entire planet has that allows new gods to be born. And then when he was caught she should have instantly swooped in and made an example of him, in what world is making Percy slightly stronger more valuable than making sure everyone knows you don't understand any circumstances mess with the hive and that anyone who does will be instantly murdered by Phoebe? Yes Percy is valuable but as far as we're aware knowledge isn't gonna magically save the planet if they lose their only source of usable beast mana, sure once he's a god he might be strong enough to seize a new source by force but there's no guarantee he'll ever even reach that point

K1llsh0t_87

Yeah. And also, can't he just spar with whites? He's already killing and fighting in other worlds.

Poutine Au Syrop d'érable

If it's not that. This story is just bad. My hope is POP goes that way. Seriously, it was beginning to be my favorite daily story. The one I look at the most. I didn't even read machaons chapter. I don't think I'll return. Deimos, and that other dude who survived the fights were pure garbage story telling. Chapter 212 or something. Onr was making your story appear as shit. To then do "Ahahah, fool, I was only pretending to be retarded with no gains at all. " So I am the winner. And the other is just bad character writting.

Poutine Au Syrop d'érable

What's pathetic is that there wasn't a god to observe and protect the hive from the start!

Poutine Au Syrop d'érable

I'm starting to suspect more and more that Machaon is infected with a Cardinal Devil. It's the only explanation for someone of his level to be acting so insanely erratically, and literally convincing the gods to do things against their interests. But I'll also assume that either Phoebe or Athena will be hovering over Machaon's shoulder and won't actually give him a chance to kill anyone that they want to keep alive.

Dove

This is the absolute dumbest chapter so far. Phoebe is a fucking mind-mana titan. I know it was stated earlier that internal memories and the mind is difficult to brute force - but if Phoebe can't turn a mortal into a puppet whose only purpose is to kill Percy when Percy shows up, whats the point of being a Titan?

Phoebe already stated to Percy this was his mess to deal with, her view on the value of life is on the long term, and filtered through the lens of the objective fact that all lives are in fact not equal in this universe. Percy will never truly become like that because he is going to gain tools to give every person he meet an almost equal chance at the game of power, but that's just a Deus Ex in his favor, not an universal truth.

Jesus

Well I hope Phoebe has good life insurance. Unleashing a desperate, powerful man, to start kiliing people around Percy... she's certainly not buying forgiveness
