But we see her saving Wilhelm when he was almost dying and that way learned that the red haired girl asking him "Do you like flowers" were the Sword Saint. So she did fight and even fought without the blessing against the witch of Vanity at the end there, just no hope winning.

I was thinking maybe she's in her prime and he's older but if she was already in her 50's when she died so they'd be on relatively same terms there

2025-03-13 08:56:13 +0000 UTCI think the point of Wilhelm asking if Reinhard felt guilty was because Wilhelm did intend to kill her, but he would carry that burden—something he wouldn't want Reinhard to carry. Especially since he had blamed his wife's death on him once already.

Theresia has another protection called the Divine Protection Of The Death God. This means that any wound inflicted by her would be unable to truly heal and if you came into contact with her the wound would reopen and start bleeding as if it was brand new.

2025-03-13 04:32:58 +0000 UTCNo your wrong on Theresia. Theresia killed tons during demi human war. Remember since obviouly going to forget from while ago. Back in Season 1 during white whale battle with Subaru you see the POV of Wilheim with Theresia in the flash back and how Wilheim was going to die during demi human war and Theresia came in and saved him by killing all the demi humans around him. Also some of the scenes were exactly the same during Season 1 but with Wilheim POV monologuing, this one was Theresia. The parts was when he beat her in the duel in the building and they kissed and the part "do you like flowers" where they met but in Theresia's POV. Theresia had to do it because shes the sword saint, shes the hero. That's what Hero's do. Thats what Hero's are in Rezero. Just lapdogs for a higher power which is why Wilheim hates the sword saint title, it's just to be used and abused by others and strip you away of your own freedom and autonomy since which is the soul of the world gave it to Theresia without any approval. Reinhard is the same just a lapdog for others to order around which is why in Season 2 during Puck vs Reinhard. Puck says "your a hero Reinhard but a hero is all you can ever be" he can't be anything else but that in Subaru's 2nd trial. Subaru says exactly samething to Reinhard in Emilia's third trial. Subaru says he wants to be a Hero, Rem's hero but just samething. Subaru isn't the one playing chess in this world. Someone and something has set him up which is why it's kinda weird how all the archbishops have star names that Subaru knows huh. The same way Theresia is just a pawn not the one playing chess and being used for someone or something else goal. Pandora clearly is one of the people playing chess and so is Echidna. Edit: To be honest, Reinhard saying she wasn't even his own grandmother is Reinhard denying that reality, not Heinkel. Just remember, Reinhard in Season 3 after he cut down Sirius and then in turn killed bunch of people, he was becoming traumatized. Imagine if he accepted he ACTUALLY killed his grandmother? He's just coping and denying that reality.

The payoff is so good in season 3 of stuff that we have seen in season 1 and 2 (emilia/greed episode and now the Astrea backstory). Even though Heinkel was being an ass in episode 1 of S3 for no reason it felt like the way they depicted him here really made me feel for him. I imagine something happened to his wife because we don't see her in the story and a drunk father spiraling in into alcohol is a classic/familiar story (Demon Slayer). And maybe he was just a big momma's boy? Either way his irrational behaviour made total sense to me. Well written characters in Re:Zero, I'm really impressed with Season 3 so far even without all the action/fighting.

Willhelm found out she was the Sword Saint because she had saved his life in a battle (after he had already met her). She hated violence so Willhelm decided to do it for her.
