I like how they spin the fact into legend. virgin birth, she got crazy night vision powers (which might possibly happen with colorblindness). and adorkable had it right, they claim hes the brother so if the emperor has a son jinshi would be moved out of succession, but since hes actually his son hed be the first in line (hence why someone tried to sneak him season 1)

So Emperor knows a lot more than he shows. Hence why he is pushing Maomao to Jinshi and teasing Jinshi about having Maomao as concubine. Emperor is being too casual that Lee and gangs, and I’m pretty sure a lot of people missed that he knew Lakan is Maomao’s father without anyone telling him

2025-02-23 02:57:03 +0000 UTCBased on what we saw in season 1 (mostly what Maomao figured out), Jinshi is the current Emperor's son. Ah-duo switched Jinshi (the son) with the Emperor's brother. The brother then died because of the honey, and some time after that it was found out that the two babies were switched. This is when Maomao's adoptive father was punished for failing to notice it, especially since it was already too late. This episode Jinshi says he believed the Emperor to be his father, but then was told by his "mother" (Empress Dowager) and grandmother that the Emperor is his brother. I think he knows the truth but is playing along with the deception. I'm pretty sure the Emperor knows the truth as well, but we don't know if the Empress Dowager (Jinshi's "mother") does. I suspect she does not, but the grandmother did.
