PART 9

“Sounds good! It’ll be a pleasure doing business, have a good day, ma’am!”

The deputy and a few goons just got out of behind-counter conversations with a local convenience store at Kingdom Alley. One of them is carrying a checklist of all the businesses previously hustled by the rival gang, and they’re crossing the final name off. For the last few days, they’ve been informing them of the change in partnership; they’ll be around genuinely to protect them from hostile gangs, not trying to extort them for their goods and stuff.

Everyone’s in good spirits, but a few of them express a bit of concern of this transfer of power, especially without Boss around. Deputy just tells the guys that he’s still recovering... which causes a few of them to suspect something is wrong. With Boss not being around to make these arrangements, they wonder just how trustworthy his deputy is at taking his place, starting to suspect that the deputy might have his own agenda going on. THEN they begin to question the exact nature of boss’ absence; it’s been a while -- is he REALLY that sick? Or is it just what the deputy WANTS them to think?

“Where the hell is boss? At the very least, I hope he’s fine.”

Cut to the Boss’ apartment, scrambling through his closet again, hastily getting dressed.

“I’M FINE. I’M FINE. EVERYTHING IS FINE.”

With a panicked look on his face, boss is dressed (very wrinkled and haphazardly) in a very androgynous, but passable-as-male outfit (shirt and long pants, but with a slightly visible chest) as he busts out of his apartment and rushes out the door. He isn’t speaking during this run, but his thought bubbles are very lively:

“I KNOW HOW TO PROVE THAT I’M STILL A GUY DEEP DOWN!”

He’s making a mad dash on foot to Kingdom Alley (even despite the full transformation, his cardio is still amazing!), and thinks to himself “THIS IS FINE. IT’S FINE. IT’S FINE! THIS IS FINE” over and over again in obvious mad panic.

“I KNOW I’m still a man! I can prove it! Maybe then I’ll be able to turn back!!!”

He says this standing before... the women’s clothing store he once passed by in chapter 6. He takes a deep breath, then barrels inside.

Following this is a really fast same-”camera” angle montage of a sales associate/cashier attempting to greet Boss as he enters, but awkwardly falls silent and is confused as he zips past her, looking through women’s lingerie in the back, before zipping back to the cashier. He has a determined, but really crazed/stressed smile on his face (imagining a hollow smile with dull eyes) as he is holding, a new dress, a ribbon headband, AND a frilly bra/panties set.

(holding up the underwear) “I NEED THIS. CAN I USE YOUR CHANGING ROOMS?”
“Oh, uh... we don’t allow customers to try on underwear before purchase, but if you--”
“THAT’S FINE, I’LL PAY FOR IT.”

Cut to another montage of him in the changing room, changing out of his usual clothes and underwear, looking at the bra and panties... and putting them on(???) The narration explains his weird insane troll logic (he’s blatantly really just really confused and in denial but just roll with it):

“I can’t prove that I’m still a guy with my body... but I can prove it with my sense of shame! The most unmanly thing I can think of... buying... and wearing women’s lingerie... I just gotta put this on, and then...”

Looking in the mirror... he sees... a girl wearing underwear. It’s very pretty. The girl is very pretty. The lingerie is a little ill-fitting... but cute and sexy.

...and it’s also him. He is this cute girl.

...then he starts laughing hysterically, palms mushed into his face in deep blushing.

HAHAHA, YES!!! THE EMBARRASSMENT IS REAL!!!!! I look so unmanly! THE HUMILIATION! THE DISCOMFORT! This is just like my goddamn nightmare!
(begins mockingly posing sexy at himself in the mirror in ways that SHOULD be embarrassing to him)
The shame of being stripped of my penis and flat chest, reduced to such an embarrassingly revealing figure of a girl!!! Doesn’t it feel so horrible for me to stay like this forever? Of course it would! Because I’d NEVER EVER want to do something as unmanly as this, because deep down I AM STILL A--
--GIRL...

The smiles immediately become hollow. He freezes in place, not because he got embarrassed by realizing what he just said (at this point, he doesn’t care), but because he just startled himself with a terrible revelation. He’s not embarrassed because he’s unmanly. He’s embarrassed because he enjoys being a cute girl but he doesn’t want to be one... but now he’s completely accepted it.

“Who am I even kidding anymore... I really am a girl now...”
(sitting down on the changing room seat to quietly contemplate)
“It’s not unmanliness, is it? This feeling... of shame... and guilt... it’s just all me...”
(looks in the mirror and sees his body in front of it)
“...I... am a girl... just pretending to be a guy now... fuck, I can’t even do that anymore...
I thought that I could maybe pass... but it doesn’t even feel good now...
...but this?
...is this who I am now?”

Boss quietly looks at himself, then glances at the dress he picked up. Cut to just a little bit later, he’s exiting the changing room in the full outfit (carrying old clothes in a bag) and on his phone. The sales associate is waiting outside for him.

“Ah, how does it feel, miss? Is it good?”
(blank stare as the boss texts his phone)
“...it’s wonderful...”

He’s texting his deputy. “I’m in deep trouble. I need to talk to you in person and privately. Meet me at the rumble site asap. don’t tell anyone.”

Cut to deputy and the goons heading back to their HQ, with deputy receiving the text. He immediately stops and tells the other guys to continue on, he (unintentionally suspiciously) tells them that he has “something important” he needs to head off to. He heads out, but this raises further suspicions of the rest of the gang who suspect something’s up. They decide to walk out of sight, only to follow him to wherever he’s going.

Cut back again to the hidden alleyway where the boss previously fought the rival gang. Boss gets there first and -- seeing as there’s nobody around and he isn’t expecting the deputy to arrive that quickly, so he starts to undress from his new girl’s clothes to get back into his previous male outfit...

Then suddenly, the deputy opens the gate and sees boss start to undress. Boss quickly notices and screams in embarrassment, telling him to turn around, he wasn’t expecting him to be there THAT fast. He complies... but then boss just tells him “...fuck it, never mind, I’ll just keep it on” and decides to just talk in the girl’s outfit.

“Boss? Is that you? You look... fancy.”
“...just... ignore that for now...”
“S-sorry. So what’s up? Did he rival gang come back? What the hell’s happening, this sounded really urgent!”

Boss just solemnly looks at the ground before putting his hand on deputy’s shoulder.

“...I’m making you the new boss of the gang.”
“HUH? What are you talking about?”
I just... I can’t do this anymore...”

PART 10

Open on the goons trailing the deputy. They saw him enter in through the alleyway and sneak up close to the gate he went through, but stop as they hear something and don’t wanna let him know they’re there. However, they only hear faint glimpses of the conversation he’s having.

What follows is the boss and deputy having a conversation while the goons only hear bits and pieces, struggling to get the context. Importantly though, they hear a light voice and based on the glimpses of the person he’s talking to, they assume she’s a girl.

Boss: “I’m not... strong enough... I’ve always been made to feel weak for being myself, and so I taught myself to pretend that I was a strong leader... But I can’t pretend anymore... I don’t WANT to pretend anymore... I just want to be myself... and I can’t stay here.”
Deputy: “Boss, what are you talking about? You’re plenty strong! All the guys love you for that! You’re a great leader!”
---

Goon 1: “The hell? Who is that? Is that the boss?”

Goon 2: “No, dumbass, does boss dress like that? Shut up, trying to hear them...”

---
Boss: “...they’re not looking for someone like me... they’re not looking for an imposter. ...someone who can’t be honest about who they really are.”
---

Goons: “...huh?”

---
Boss: “But you’re an honest guy... I know they can trust and rely on you.”
Deputy: “Wait, hold on, time out! We gotta sit down for this, there's a lot going on here...”

The two walk away to find another place to sit down at like some public table or bench. This leads for the goons to follow them further. This portion, they completely miss because they’re out of position.

Goon 1: “Who is this chick? Is she with the other gang?”

Goon 2: “I didn’t see her at the fight, but... we gotta hear more of this.”

---
Boss: “I’ve just been thinking about this for the last few weeks, I tried ignoring it... and I’ve made up my mind on it. It’s nothing personal, I just can’t be the guy everyone looks up to anymore... not like this...”
Deputy: “Is it THAT big a deal? We can just tell the guys that you like bein’ girly and all that, I can help vouch for you!”
Boss: “I just don’t want them to know... that this is who I am, but I’m still figuring it out, and... I don’t want to ruin how they see me...”

By this point, the goons finally have reached another hiding place. This time, they’re far closer to the two and can hear them a lot better, but end up hearing their conversation out of context.

Deputy: I see... but what am I supposed to tell them? That their boss disappeared into thin air?
Boss: Just say he had to suddenly move out, and you were handed the position of power right before the fact. And hopefully... everyone understands.
Deputy: And you don’t expect them to follow up? What if they care? And what if they do get on your trail to try looking for you?”
Boss: ...well... you’ll be in charge, right? Just do and say whatever you want, whatever comes naturally. And just maybe... they’ll never find out about me.”

Once the hiding goons hear this, that’s when it (erroneously) clicks: this girl is somehow conspiring to take power away from the boss during his absence and putting the deputy in charge for potentially corrupt plans. They proceed to whisper to each other, with one guy being sent back to “warn” the aide.

Goon 1: Call the assistant to get a hold of boss, shit’s been compromised! The deputy's a traitor!”
Goon 2: “Shit.... we gotta stop this doofus...”
---
Deputy: I mean... that’s nice a nice offer, but-

(CLONK)

Suddenly, deputy gets tackled from behind by a couple of goons, all shouting at him for being a traitor and pinning him to the ground, much to his and the boss’ panicked confusion. A few other goons approach this mystery girl they barely recognize, shouting at her “Who the hell are you?! Are you some rival? What are you doing with our man?!” One of them tries to grab her arm to restrain her.

Big mistake, boy!

In an instant, boss’ fight reflex kicks in and she instantly retaliates against the guys trying to grab her, before making her way to the guys trying to pin down the deputy and kicking them away.

“GET THE FUCK OFF MY DEPUTY!”

Everyone’s heads turn in shock and confusion (and also some pain for those that just got punched/kicked in the face). And then a wave of embarrassment and even more confusion that they just realized the girl they’re looking at... is actually their boss? Wait, what?

“Boss?! Is that really you?!”

Boss is standing there all fierce, but calming down... and realizing the predicament she’s in now, surrounded by her goons, in a dress. She stammers out a panicked “ah.. I... uh...” before suddenly, her phone rings! She pulls it out and realizes... it’s the aide!

She then quickly and awkwardly turns around from the guys (still looking at her in confusion) as she answers the call and tries to get it done with as quick as possible.

“Hello?
Yeah... it’s me...
yeah, false alarm, I think there’s been some confusion... I’ll explain everything later...
Sorry about that. The guys are still standing here, I’ll talk to you afterwards.
Okay thanks, bye. (hangs up)

Boss turns back to the guys, takes a deep breath... and tries to think of the right words to say to them, now that they have her full attention.

“I... owe all of you an apology. I’ve... not been totally honest with you for the last while... I’ve not been totally honest with MYSELF for even longer. But I... owe you all an explanation, okay?”
Goon: “What’s going on? What happened to you?”
“I became... (long pause) I AM a girl... realizing I’ve been pretending to be a guy for too long.
I’ve been thinking about myself for the last couple of weeks... found myself in a new place as myself, and... this feels like the real me now. I tried to ignore it, but everything still felt wrong...
but now I’m here, and I don’t feel like I’m lying anymore. And this is me as my honest, true self.
...and I’m so sorry.
I’m calling it quits here. If you guys still wanna be a gang without me, deputy’s in charge now. But otherwise... I’m just gonna go away and hide forever now.
(quietly walks over to pick up her bag of clothes)
Don’t come looking for me. Goodbye.”

Boss turns around back to the gate, trying to ignore everyone she walks past and also trying not to cry from this incredibly dramatic, shameful event. She gets a few seconds of silence before suddenly, she can feel someone walking up behind her and speaking up. It’s deputy.

“Wait, I still don’t understand, why do you have to leave?”
(she turns around) “What do you mean, you don’t understand? You’re the new boss. You’re in charge now. Now go.”

One of the goons (who just a minute ago was just punched) pipes up and finally voices his opinion. Others join him.

“But... I don’t want a new boss.”
“Yeah, me neither. You’re still cool.”
“Wait, really? Are you sure about this, sir?”
“Are you really sure?”

Amidst the chatter, boss looks back in confused disbelief. Why were they sticking by her? She’s not a leader? She’s an embarrassment. Shouldn’t they be pushing her to leave?

“Why the hell do you want me to stay? I’m not a leader! I don’t... know how to help all of you. I don’t even wanna dress the part anymore, I’m not even tough!”
“...but you ARE, dude! M-...ma’am. Miss. Girl. Sir... uh...”

Deputy pipes in before the guy can ramble awkwardly any further.

“Boss, I don’t wanna force you to make any decision... if you’re really this uncomfortable of being here... we won’t push you to stay.
But like... we still believe in ya. And love ya. And I trust your judgment completely.”
(Boss gives a concerned look of realization back on the guys around them before thinking about it to herself)
“We ride or die by your orders, boss.”

Boss thinks in silence. A wave of emotion washes over her face... it may or may not be coinciding with the tears she feels rolling down her cheek. She considers it as a weight feels like it’s simultaneously brushing over her and being lifted off from her spirit.

And she smiles.

“You guys are...
fucking idiots...
but thank you all...
for your kindness...”

Deputy sees her getting overwhelmed and gives her a hug. She responds back in kind. The goons come by and offer her support, accompanied by chatter like “Hey, it’s alright, boss! We’re here for ya!”

Cut to overhead shot of the clouds (by sunset as it’s the end of the day), then leading in back with The Aide, sitting back at the HQ, just as boss, deputy, and the rest of the crew have arrived back, and presumably after Boss explained everything. With some leading narration bleeding in with a present discussion just as they wrap their day up:

Aide: Huh... I see! I always did kinda suspect this to be the case, but congrats, boss! I’m really glad being a girl suits you well, I can already see you’re the happier for it! (thinking about it)
Ah, wait, I guess that means you really ARE filling the princess of this house now, eh? Should we start calling you ‘Princess’ instead?”
Deputy: “Yeah, gotta say, that does have a nice ring to it!”
Boss: (blushing smile) “Psh, shut up.”

Slow fade of the trio and other guys reuniting back at HQ and chilling out, panning shot back at the shrine as the sun sets.

Cut to a new scene, a few months later, back to Kingdom Alley.

A young woman is running down a narrow alley, pursued by mysterious figures. She trips over, and it turns out he’s being pursued by an all-new group of masked creepy thugs with bats. They’re really pissed off at her (she screwed them over somehow, presumably in some gang-related operation), and they’re about to make her pay. But just then, a loud “HEY!” comes from further down the alley.

Panning shot of new shoes walking up with a wooden sword again. Gradual pan up juuuuust before we get the face. It’s the boss, sporting a new, bosozoku-esque look, making her look like a badass biker (white sash/tank top around boobs), and a modified form of her usual leather jacket. Hell yeah.

“Leave the poor girl alone! If you have any problem at these parts, then you’ve got a problem with me and the boys!”

Pan up, and we see boss with a long badass ponytail, having her hair grown out (along with maybe some playful hair decorations). Also, she’s being trailed by the rest of the goons, who are too sporting similar black-jacket/white-shirt looks to their appearances to coordinate with her look. They all look like they’re about to kick some ass as the woman stares in awe. Final zoom-in frame on her cocksure grin. She can’t wait!

“I’m the boss around these parts. Dealt with plenty of problems here before. And you’re next.”

END.
