VaM2 Beta1.0 Has Been Released!

This the first in a long line of upcoming betas for the VaM2 project. We will have more details soon. We have already started updating the Trello board with some of this information on future plans, but more will be added this coming week after we recover from the release. This first beta and the upcoming VaM2 Addon Kit release is targeted towards creators interested in making looks using morphs, textures, shaders, and materials. Over time more capabilities will be unlocked. This is just the start.

This is really cool. Amazing how fast it runs in comparison to VAM1. I keep wanting to drag and drop entire sections of the left side into my custom toolbar on the right side, it would be awesome if I could just drag+drop a whole folder of morph presets into a new tab. Maybe right click > add as new tab?

Been trying to figure out hardware specs and allocated resources. I have a master rig been trying it out for a while. Though I often feel like VAM2 isn't taking advantage of this. Any chance I could get VAM2 to use over 128GB of RAM to benchmark test it? I already have a total of 256 installed. Been trying to get more performance as a tester and Creator. Any word of advice?

It looks like the hair shader has a depth sorting issue, also toggling the hair on/off doesn't remove the hair until the scene is re-loaded, also changing the head scale does not scale the hair etc I noticed that you can turn some of the shadows off but turning off the directional shadows didn't seem to work, these are usually pretty expensive especially in VR, any plan to have the option to toggle shadows per light? I've had some issues with the UI scaling improperly when going in and out of VR, which required a restart every time, but this probably won't be a big issue once the VR UI is implemented I am hoping that there'll be graphical settings in the future Looking forward to the VR UI and the option to adjust the world/objects scale Thank you!

Unfortunately due to the major changes done in VaM2, VaM1 content is not compatible. Content creators could adapt some content to work in VaM2, but it isn't something that can be easily automated and work in all cases. The biggest barrier is the models themselves are not compatible. VaM1 uses Daz3d Genesis 2 models and VaM2 currently uses Daz3d Genesis 8 models.

Excellent work so far. Koodos! Will there be compatibility with VaM 1 models and .var's... is that something that is planned... perhaps a converter of sorts, to update older assets, models, environments, etc. Again... Great work!

I'm no longer giving out release dates, but 1-3 months between releases is a good expectation to have depending on the complexity of the release.

Currently you can move around and grab and move things. The VR UI/UX is coming in Beta1.2. Definitely not 2nd class. It is getting its own dedicated UI/UX this time.

We haven't added eye controls yet. We were planning something for Beta1.2 comes out with plugin support so we can include a "Gaze" addon.

Just want to confirm I'm not missing anything, but at the moment, there is zero Eye control outside of textures and shapes, correct? I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the Person look at the camera. Also, Bravo picking Kala as the base skin. One of my favorites. The spec and bump map is amazingly done with that model.

Hello, does not start, even in "Windows 8"....

Someone else had this issue and fixed it by switching the application to Windows 8 compatibility mode. Right click on VaM2.exe, and select Properties. Then go to compatibility and click Run this program in compatibility mode for: and change to Windows 8. I think this is some kind of Unity bug and I hope it will be addressed with our move to Unity 6 with the next release.

so, Idk if I should be posting this to the discord, but It's not working for me? I click the exe but nothing happens. my event viewer says its an error with ntldll.dll, but i can't find anything helpful online. sfc/scannow said no corrupted files, I redownloaded, extracted it to two separate drives, no dice.

I can't access the user guide (hub is down for maintenance) so just guessing here, but you can turn on VR by going into the System menu on the left, select XR, and toggle XR on in the resulting menu. That will activate VR, but beyond that I don't think VR support is in yet, since on my Index all I can do is look around. The controllers do nothing. edit: since the hub came up and the user guide is available, this is confirmed: there isn't a UI yet in VR

I havent had a chance to try in VR yet, but if it was like the alpha you have to click the XR enabled option. It has it's own category "XR" in "system" part of menu.

Is there a way to run this in VR or not yet? I usually run it with virtual desktop with a .bat file, If I try any other way it just opeans steamVR and its more slower and annoying, better finger tracking tho, but thats only if I really want to fondle some boobies synced with my sexdoll that day. We don't have have presets yet or an easy way to share scenes. I can include the above scene in Beta1.1 though.

Going forward I'm not going to give specific release dates because I did that with this release and I haven't slept in 36 hours to get it done. But I can tell you I would like to do a release every 2-3 months, sometimes more frequent and sometimes less frequent depending on what is being worked on. Beta1.1 will be quite soon. Beta1.1 is mostly a spillover of what we couldn't get done in time for Beta1.0.

Fun to try out in VR. Completely lost at the moment, but that's okay. Will this version accept existing ".var" files to change the characters? Or will that require an entirely different format? None of my questions are complaints!!! I'm just seeking information.
