Post B-Sides Plan

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know what I was planning on working on next in my editing queue. I still have a few different VR clips that I'd like to get out at some point, and I am thinking about trying to put out 1 or 2 of them before working on the next full length clip. A few of them got a little bit fucked up in terms of splitting/camera turning off, so I'm not sure if any of them will be released to y'all as vr b-sides or not (one of the clips legitimately made me upset that the camera didn't work properly and made it unusable/non-existent). But the good news is that I just bought a new VR camera (although I haven't tested it out yet!). It's less user friendly, but I did like that it supposedly has the option to shoot in 120fps!

Anyways, the VR clip I'm working on right now features Lauren Ashlyn coming home early in the morning from a late night of partying, only to discover she has intruders all over the place, which she promptly gets rid of. This one has some fun stuff in it.

The next full length clip I was thinking of working on is from my most recent shoot with Lauren that I'm pretty excited about. I will share more details as it gets closer!

Thank you! This one's not perfect, but it's got some cool moments imo!

I'll send you something in a bit. In the past, I haven't had much success in reaching out to other producers about tips and tricks, but if you're able to get some feedback, let me know!

You should ask other gts producers like mantman or hybrid how they do theirs. But yea if you send me something I'll see what I can do in Da Vinci Resolve.

It's definitely possible, I just need something that doesn't require me to spend hours on it each time, you know? If there was a way for me to turn it into some kind of preset that would be cool

godqueen

I use Davinci Resolve (free editor) but maybe you could send me a bit of raw footage and I'll see if there's a simple effect that you could do? I think the simple stuff is likely possible in both Adobe Premier and this.

Adobe Premiere

What film editor are you using?

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the shakes I've been using lately either, but right now, it's the only decent preset I've found online. In the past, I used to do it manually, which meant I had to do every key-frame individually (which can take hours upon hours), so for the sake of my own productivity, I switched over to a preset that someone else made, or else it might be taking me even longer to come out with these videos. If you're aware of any techniques or different presets that could help speed up the process, I would definitely be interested in learning. The last few times I searched online (granted this was prob 6 months ago now), I wasn't able to find anything to help me speed up the process. For example, I can't often copy+paste the keyframe edits because the shots are different, and sometimes my POVs move, so it forces me to do each one individually.

Can you readjust how you're doing the shake effects in your videos. Lately you've been doing multiple intense shakes that look really weird and are distracting instead of giving, ruining suspension of disbelief as it just feels like the camera is tripping out with each step. A good step boom is a single, heavy, thud, where the camera doesn't shake that much but if timed correctly can feel very intimidating and weighty.
