When I first watched this drama, I was also terrified when he was holding the water going into that camp. It took a while before I realized what @Marhd said above that really only a very small circle of ppl know what the crown prince looks like.
D.O. does such a good job of really making the audience feel how uncomfortable he is. His friend with the legendary eye rolls is one of my favorite characters. Kicking his knees from behind to make him grovel before his wife and everything he does to try and help D.O. 🤣🤣

It’s important to keep in mind that before technology and cameras were a thing, most people didn’t know what their royals actually looked like and only recognized them by their clothing and entourage. Even the palace guards and staff would’ve only seen him from a distance and if they ever got close, they’d be bowing and not allowed to look directly at his face.
Only very close friends, and family would be able to recognize his face while dressed as a peasant. At the mountain, it probably would’ve been just the father in law but no way he’d rushing to the aid of a peasant in distress lol.

I think the confusing part of this is that the dad is lying that he’s won deuk, but he’s told hong shim that there IS a won deuk before, so she believes he’s real but has never met him, but she’s lying about their love story because they were never engaged….I don’t know if that’s right, it’s a lot haha
