Hello patrons! I'm back from San Diego, shooting with long-time collaborator McKenzie Eckels and her new husband Beau DuBois, where I did a combo of medium format, digital and Polaroid. The medium format is a result of a long term rental from a company called Parachut and the above image is a sample of that work. I'm hoping to make enough of it to be an "on purpose" book project, very real and grounded material, none of that hyper fancy digital stuff, more involving relationships and travel.
I'm at a moment in life where my 19 year relationship dead ended, 2 schools are tug-of-warring me to work for them, and I have to find a place to live. It's all fairly routine at this stage, where I wake up and try to figure out how to advance in one direction or another.
Surprisingly I'm actually more ok now than over the summer because I can feel things moving on, like when you know you're ill but you're afraid to go to the doctor, when you finally get treated and get the surgery you can accept that "this is the way it's gonna be" and then you find you have friends that help you get through. Maybe? Hard to say when you're living through it at the moment...
Anyways, even though I'm busy with that I haven't stopped making art at all, back in the saddle with the music project with Alina and I know of a few shoots I've got before the year is through. I've also been drawing a LOT at my school and was inspired yesterday to do a Shel Silverstein-esque project involving those things.
Anywho, hope all is well with you people out there! See you on the other side!
