The March Spotify Playlist + Update
Added 2019-03-24 14:03:41 +0000 UTCHello patrons! I'm about to embark on a Seattle day trip that will likely have 5-6 shoots, certainly more people than I've ever shot in that city in a row. Only one of them being someone I've ever met before, but that person @sailor_marimoon has been an enthusiastic booster of me to the point where I could go and do something like this and have a bunch of people lined up to shoot with me.
I also just tested with two more Phoenix-area models and am setting up more elaborate studio concepts with both. Honestly I'm starting to feel the burnout creep in, but whenever that happens I'm like "I'll stop in May!" It's always a race to May. Shoot a year's worth of stuff before May then do something else.
I plan on going to Nashville in April as there's more people I want to work with there than anywhere- far more than LA or NYC, the usual congregations of talent. However it's gonna cost a lot for me to do what I'd like to do there so I'm sorting out some kind of fundraising which I'm sure I'll bludgeon you lot with in the coming weeks.
The March Spotify playlist is even more schizophrenic than usual - Ministry and NIN bump against Tom Waits and Laura Stevenson's plaintive singer-songwriter material and are rounded out by the pop of Michael Franti and Röyksopp. I'm just looking for weird energy to feed off of; it helps to randomly switch tonal gears like that, and then hoping Brian Eno will put me to sleep. A highlight is "Poison" by The Prodigy, a key track to my own musical development (a thuggish dark trip hop/ industrial acid track) and a nod to the deceased Prodigy member Keith Flint who committed suicide this month.
