The October Spotify Playlist
Added 2018-10-21 19:00:00 +0000 UTCThis month's playlist reflects the transition from full-time teacher to the life of an indie artist, and the best song for it is the new Young The Giant track "Simplify." When you've got some kind of steady income you don't wake up every day in a panic of how to weave your weird ideas into gold to take care of a bill that's 2 days due, but I remember literal years of my life where I did indeed figure it out.
Young the Giant and Gunship both put out new excellent albums, so they're heavily represented.
There's a number of female artists in this month's set; Suzanne Vega, Esthero, Geneva, Dot Allison to name a few- I disappeared down a rabbit hole of recommendations and remembered some old favorites I haven't listened to in a dog's age.
The rest is a mix of Psybient, Indie Rock and Folk as is my regular won't. I learned how to set up Spotify to crossfade by 12 seconds as a DJ mix and I really love the flow of these tracks in this order.
