Welcome back Fellow Darkish!
Following the scattered remains on the ground, you arrive at the eerie entrance of a natural cave. The surrounding terrain is slippery and wet, soon revealing that it’s due to the amount of blood splattered around.
Will you enter the monster’s den to face it head-on, or will you explore the area to devise a plan and lure it into a trap?

MAP DESCRIPTION:
Monster Den Entrance are located in a wide clearing surrounded by rock, the harsh terrain prevents the growth of trees and large plants, making the area barren and inhospitable.
The intricate path is littered with the remains of many races, some ancient, others very fresh. Something dangerous has been lurking here for a long time.
A large cave opens menacingly in the white rock, a perfect place where packs of small creatures or large, ferocious solitary animals might have made their lair.
The path continues to the left, and by climbing, you can easily reach above and to the sides of the cave entrance, creating opportunities to set traps and ambushes for the creatures likely hiding in the dark of the cave.
The lucky ones who manage to avoid being heard by the monsters might even reach the other side of the map unscathed and without fighting, but the numerous bloodstains converging in the den hint at how arduous the task might be.
NOTES
Monster Den Entrance, with its numerous heights and perfect ambush spots, is designed to offer you thrilling battles and make every type of adventurer shine.
The numerous remains can provide valuable clues to those who can spot them.
Not only monsters can exploit this rugged and hidden area, but groups of malefactors might also find the cave an excellent secret base.
The barren but grassy biome fits most situations; you can use the map before or after a lush area like a forest or as a green area around a mountain.
The limestone rocks of the cave and those surrounding the map are friable and, with a well-placed explosion, can be used to create tactical collapses on particularly challenging monsters. Use the environment to your advantage.
The broken wood pieces might hide useful items for defeating the monster, perhaps brought there by adventurers who prepared to fight it before you.
The cave can be a perfect entrance to a dungeon
Here we are, right at the end of the month!
Don’t worry, Fellow Darkish, your three maps are ready and will be published in the next three days!
This month, for the first time, Darkest Maps attended fairs in two cities in our country, Italy, where we talked about RPGs, met many people who use our maps—many more than we expected!—and created a map live that you will see published next month!
It was a wonderful experience, and we hope to meet many of you in person at the next Comics & Games Conventions we will attend!
We want to thank all our Patrons; without you, this wouldn’t be possible, and soon you will have a small gift from us to celebrate together!
Now, however, we are back, and we think this month’s three maps are really amazing! We hope this first map, the Monster Den Entrance, excites you and provides challenging and interesting battles. The cave entrance turned out very menacing, right?
We hope it instills the right fear in the players about what they will face!
The continuation of this map, Monster Den Cave, will be published next month, as will the Pirate Dungeon, the winner of the last poll!
This July will be full of challenging maps, but we are sure our efforts will be rewarded when you tell us how you used them!
That’s all for this map, Fellow Darkish; we’ll meet again soon for the second map of this month!
We wish you, as always, great adventures and NAT20,
The Darkest Maps Team
