My experience in the Lands Between in a nutshell

I've beaten SotE but tbh this Lands Between is too much for an old Souls fogey like me. I didn't very enjoy with these piled-up projectiles and massive field AoEs

You're using a greatshield. You're fine :)

reminds me I pretty like the step moves in Bloodborne

Ironlily

yep Quickstep is Ash of war it's basically just Side step in a HEMA fight like.

Naomi

I have problem with catalyst and seal, so ash of war is like a savior to me

I’m a magic/dex build so I can avoid AoEs projectiles. I’m either up front with daggers or casting spells at a distance.

Puti

You're having problem with magic? Quickstep. If the enmies on the higher ground use mighty shot with composite bow. Though beside that im glad you'd enjoy the game so far!

Naomi

it's fine since I can fight most of the time like a hoplite or a roman legion. I use my shield like a viking to test and learn every opponent's strength and the windows to fight back, then beat them up. In addition they add counter attack for shield user which I like so much, so I'm not complaining the difficulty, just not enjoying those massive magic missiles and explosions.

Ironlily

That's good but some arts are also historically related too and avoid rolling at all fights if you want to be challanged. But nonetheless whatever fits to your taste, I had fun on my own ways too by sticking the historical appearance completely with my halberd as my main. and use a different ash of war that still fits to the historical appearance. That works for specific purpose.

I finished the core game without using magic or weapon arts and found it incredibly rewarding! That said I'd love if there was a game like elden ring with more grounded kit.

Well sadly if youlre trying to stick into medieval mindset to this game.. you might as well be wsrned that magic is also in this world and you'll definitely need to learn how to live with it otherwise. it's a bit hsrder to have fun. The game itself is based on fantasy and the game has about at least 20% of the armor are from historically accurate and some of the medieval weapon works like real life with limited moveset.

Naomi

I feel ya. Coincidentally, this is what puts me off a lot of MMORPGs these days. Term "visual clutter" isn't in the dictionary of some studios. Big ups for best sword in game though (tied with longsword my beloved).
