Cave Tunnel Tiles

Ever since I began the dungeon tiles, people have been asking about natural cave tiles. Well, I'm happy to kick it off with this set!

They print out as one 8x8" tile per page (with more paper-efficient options in the *-Multi.pdf), and join seamlessly at all edges.

We're starting out woefully generic with these four simple different tunnel orientations, but rest assured that things will only get more interesting. Spread between a few tile and token sets, I hope to provide the pieces for you to create whatever cave system you can imagine.

Besides these assembly-required parts, I'd like to draw a few regular-map-sized caverns that you can mix into your tunnels. Huge rooms suitable for a skill challenge or boss fight, and that sort of thing.

Those are my plans, anyway. I hope you're as excited as I am! If there's anything specific you'd like to see, please let me know in the comments.

That said, next up is that custom dungeon room builder set I've been promising. ;)

Thanks to you, these tiles are released under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

Ooo, that's a setting I'd like to play in some time.

Haha, I love seeing these kitbashed maps. It looks fun!

You're a life saver, these pieces went straight into the maps I'm whipping up for the next session! <a href="https://puu.sh/AINN4/3f4957bd69.png" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://puu.sh/AINN4/3f4957bd69.png</a>

I was completely at a dead end trying to devise an underground for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. RP. You're a lifesaver!

I look forward to every post you make! These are going to prove to be some of the most useful! I have made great use of the dungeon tiles from the way back machine so I am looking forward to how I will use these ones.

A chasm with a bridge will be amazing!

Me coloring things in as a kid is where this all started, so that makes me very happy to hear. :)

These are epic!! I love that i can just print out the outlines, it gives my kids something to color in. My youngest said she wants to color a set as if they were either sewers or watery. LOve these!!

8x8" tiles seemed right to me, so I'm glad you think it's the sweet spot too. The seamless texture will come in the next Cave set, (the build-a-room pieces) I promise! I felt like it was more appropriate there.

Cheers, dude. These will prove to be great!

There's something to be said for hitting that sweet spot between the extremes of "it's a complete map" and "here are all the tiny bricks". That something is "thanks!" Another quick win would be a large blob which is just the mottled grey tunnel floor texture. That way I could slice the tunnels you've got here down their centres and make wider tunnels, or even rooms.

Indeed, an "adaptor set" is high on my list! The fastest way to expand the set is to make my other ones compatible, right? I will give the water features some thought, as an easy method doesn't immediately come to mind. I'll play with a few ways as I build the room-builder. Thanks for your feedback!

I really love how these turned out, theyre a fantastic base to build off of, so no reason to say they arent much to look at! Theyre great. The coloring is really nice, it creates an easily visible divide between wall and path(and may even be light enough to function as an outdoor path). I cant wait to see where you take this set, my only suggestions/wishlist items atm would be a ‘transition’ tile to let me make a cave that is connected your castle/dungeon sets or any others (connect a cave to the dwarven hermitage map for instance) And (this might be a project all on its own) a way to seamlessly integrate rivers/water features into the space would be awesome. That would require like river/stream tiles though, so Im probably getting a little ahead of you in terms of whats next huh? Thank you for starting this cave series, Im very excited to see all you do with it.

I'm glad you think so! I really tried to make something that I would use myself. I know that it's not much to look at now, but it will get more exciting with each part added.

Very nice, a very nice style. Appreciate too that the tiles are not back-filled with black to save on toner.
