A Japanese Village

A small village inspired by my travels this month. It's only very small, and more of an overnight stop between two cities with an economy built around catering to travellers.

In my mind, it has an inn, a shrine to a mercantile god, a bell tower, and a bath house. The remaining houses are residential, though they could also be stables or storehouses.
Perhaps we can create something of a crowdsourced town in the comments section?

Haha, I'm trying to sample everything I missed last time I was here! Mostly, that means eating way too much. I hope to go somewhere in Europe next, maybe Scotland or Scandinavia.

This is lovely! Have you stayed at a ryokan? Did you get to visit a bath house? Where do you plan to visit next? :D

A perfect village for your party to stay at one night and encounter the villagers that turn out to be nuke-kubi. Hellboy encountered them in one of the shorter tales Mignola did. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rokurokubi#Rokurokubi_whose_heads_come_off_(nukekubi)

That sounds like my sort of campaign! In fact, the campaign I run is set in a feudal Japan setting, so more Japanese stuff is always on the agenda. :)

This is adorable. One of my favourite campaigns I ever ran was one where the whole party were Samurai cross-classes. It was set in a fantasy medieval Japan and they were tasked with winning a tournament that would test their house's ability to lead the entire country. I would have liked having this map back then. More Japanese stuff!
