I've been working on upgrading the cockpit set for Vamps to shoot new photos and videos.
For the pilot's seat, I use an old office chair I usually keep in the workshop. It's super comfy but really worn out, so I figured it was time to give it a techy makeover! I added some plastic tubing from a kids’ construction toy set to make it look like there are built-in systems and conduits sticking out of it. I also rigged up a little arm computer to simulate giving quick commands to the ship’s AI from the pilot chair. I 3D printed the parts and used an old phone to create the cool visual effects on the chair’s arm computer.
Also, last months I've been commissioning a bunch of new panels from a company with laser cutters for custom projects. Not cheap, but I don’t have that kind of gear in my studio (yet!), so I went ahead and ordered a whole set of new pieces. I wanted them to look big, very tech but clean, stuff like levers for the airlock door, access codes for doors, panels full of random buttons… basically, all the fun sci-fi stuff I can use to upgrade my sets for more futuristic shoots.
Also besides the wood commissioned panels, I’ve been 3D printing a ton of small decorative panels more myself... my 3D printer’s been working non-stop!
You’ll be seeing the finished set very soon, these are just some WIP shots for now 😛
