Updates! Hearts, Trays, Trees and a Cricut Caddy

Here are a few recent updates based on requests!!  Let's start with some variations on the Mechanical Valentine...

Mechanical Valentine Variants

* Unadorned version

* Smaller unadorned version

* Added bracing (to all four versions)

I like my gothic patterns, but some people prefer their hearts plain!  Also, there's much more resilience to bed adhesion when the print isn't full of little clover shapes on the first layer.  So, there's now an "unadorned" version.

What's more, there's also a 70% scale version that's been reworked to have the same tolerances as the larger versions, as scaling down otherwise poses risks to parts binding together.

The interior of the unadorned versions is plain, now, too, with the diagonal lines removed:

Actually, that photo above is slightly outdated, because another change is the addition of extra bracing between the lid and the hinge, since that's the most vulnerable point, especially if the box is dropped with the lid open:

All four versions (multimaterial, single material, and the two unadorned versions) have the bracing now, though the unbraced versions are still on dropbox inside Archive folders just in case you prefer the old version.

You'll find these all in the existing folder: 607 Mechanical Valentine

Undivided Treasure Chest Trays

There's now a version of the two-level trays for the Tentacle Treasure Chest that doesn't have any interior dividers, and it looks like this:

You'll find it appropriately named in the existing folder: 609 Tentacle Treasure Chest

Two-Part Fractal Tree Trunk

It seems some people were ambitious enough to embark on the full-sized Fractal Tree, but ran into a problem with the height of the main trunk model!  So, now there's a version that's chopped into two sections.

The cross-section of the branch models is only truly circular at the base and end points, so there was a risk that it might be hard to line up the model nicely when the parts are screwed together.  The cut is far enough down that it doesn't matter too much, though, and at least in my testing it lined up pretty well anyway!

I printed these at 5% infill because of the horizontal top on the lower part, since it doesn't have nice self-supporting angled surfaces like the top part does.

Compared to the single-piece version:

You'll find this in the existing folder: 605 Fractal Tree.

Cricut Caddy

If there's one thing that 3D printing is great for, it's making purpose-specific things, like this caddy intended specifically for Cricut tools.  Cricut make craft-oriented CNC machines, but if this model is relevant to you then you already knew that.

You'll find this one at 601 Cricut Caddy

Happy printing!

xoxo

Sven.

(The Valentine's heart boxes in different sizes, I should clarify)

P.S. My daughter was truly thrilled with this as a Valentine's gift, so much she wanted me to make more for her friends. So, kudos! (Clockwork Egg coming for Easter? haha)

The multimaterial version is not intended for printing in individual parts for assembly! Rather, it's intended for systems that can swap filaments during the print, under the control of the slicer instructions. Prusa MMU, Bambu AMS, and Mosaic Palette are good examples of such systems. So, all the bits get loaded up into the slicer together, and each part is assigned a different filament so that the printer can swap accordingly as it prints each layer. I hope that helps!

So I went to prepare the Multimaterial Heart Box on Cura, and I am quite confused. Several of these parts contain many many individual pieces - for example the Lid Perimeter studs contains 48 individual studs, plus another 30 or so base studs - all rotated on the side? There's no way these will print like this, right? And even if they did, what do I do with them?
