Arboreal Vase

I love making vase mode do strange things!  This leafy construction still abides by all the cardinal rules of vase-mode-ery, namely that every horizontal slice can be traced as a single profile that differs only slightly from those above and below, but it gives the impression of independent columns standing out from a cylindrical inner!

If you load this up in your slicer and run the layer preview up and down, you'll see how it's all put together.  Getting all those interior angles nice and friendly (and ensuring there were no unprintable pockets) is where all the time went in the development of this one!

It's always fun to see how the interior of a vase mode model like this ends up, and the textures that run down the central part really are more for the interior than the exterior.

Print Description

This is a vase mode print, so set your slicer accordingly!

Print Dimensions

The Arboreal Vase can be scaled to whatever size you like, but by default it's 93mm x 93mm on the print bed and 102mm tall.

Supports needed?

No supports required!  It's vase mode!

Scalability

The Arboreal Vase will scale happily, as most vase mode models tend to!

Print Orientation

Being a vase mode print, the Arboreal Vase prints right-way-up, like so:

Further Thoughts

Not surprisingly, this one is quite rigid (by vase mode standards) because there's just so much detail, which means extra bracing against flex.  It's also really the main way to get more material into a vase mode design!

Happy printing!

Comments

Weird! I haven't used Cura in a whiile, but it might be worth hopping on to the discord server and seeing if anyone else has seen that issue before!

Clockspring3D

I get odd lines that go across the top opening of the print on layer 397 using Cura 5.1.1. using vase mode/spiralize outer contour Any idea what's going on?

May I ask how you set the slicer? No matter what number I adjust, I get such a thin wall that I can't even get the print off the surface without it splitting, usually right near the bottom at the first stress point. I have had a couple of your models print well in vase mode but very unpredictable for me. Thank you in advance.
